Can we talk about the effin refs?

that’s not true.

When a defender has his back to the ball, and he’s playing the receiver, with or without his arm/s out stretched without touching the receiver, he’s guilty of pass interference

The rule is specific about that particular situation.
Let me type this in a form you understand, ABSOLUTELY WRONG…

Just realized something kinda cool

In the last 3 games we have seen a 2 defensive, 1 offensive, and 1 special teams play go 98 yards or more for a score:

USC-Gray interception, 99 yards for a score. Watts interception, 100 yards for a score

Indiania-Love run, 98 yards for a score

UGA-Harrison return, 98 yards for a score

Can we expect another 98 yard minimum play for a score against PSU???

The Kiser delay of game was a crazy turn of events. I was so mad when that happened, as I was relieved when UGA had false started and decided to punt. But then Kiser's delay of game, actually ended up being a good thing, as UGA came back on field and didn't convert giving ND great field position. Don't think I've seen that before.
I was pretty unhappy as well. Georgia could have picked up the first and cut the lead to one score. You can’t beat yourself.

Riley Leonard or Ian Book

I am too young to recall Rice. But based on highlights I've watched, he offered more bombs/longer completions for his completions than Leonard did. Part of that is because it was easier to get WRs open as the defense often sold out to stop the run.
Tony Rice coached by Lou Holtz navigated an offense that was in a word prolific, against schedules that were relatively insane.

Does This Short Week Hurt the Irish?

The question is not what you would rather have. The question is whether or not it's an advantage. I have seen too often in my playing/coaching days and as a fan the team with more rest lose. The advantage is in the preparation, which Freeman has shown to be a master of since the NIU loss. All the bye teams had more rest and how did that work out?

Look at what Freeman said in response to this question yesterday:

On whether playing on Dec. 20 gave Notre Dame a competitive advantage over Georgia since they had not played since Dec. 7
“No. I don’t. I think whatever circumstances you’re given, you make the most of them. If we would have had a first-round bye, I would have been the first one to say, ‘Hey, this is great for us. We didn’t. It’s great for us.

“We are always a glass-half-full group. Whatever circumstances are thrown at us, we’re going to take advantage of it and prepare and maximize the opportunity ahead of us. So, that’s what they did.

“The first game had nothing to do with this game. It was the preparation that they put into this week and this game and the performance that they put on.

“But I don’t believe in my heart the first game had anything to do with this one. It was about the preparation they did after the first game.”
It’s never talked about in the NFL playoffs, where it happens often, because the people at that level don’t use it as an excuse.

And IMO doesnt mean a thing in these CFB Playoffs..

Physical contact is a necessary component of pass interference.

Check out the play at 5:05 of the 4th quarter. If you have the espn skycast, you can see and hear the Georgia LB bark out the call for the DL to shift and then they shift. That should have been a five yard delay of game. What if ND had false started? Now it’s 1st and 15 instead of the 1st and 5 that it should have been. I hope the coaches address this with officials for the next game.

Kiser being called for the delay of game appeared to be the correct call. That said, the ball is at about midfield. At that point in the game, I don’t see the point in playing around and trying to draw Georgia off. It’s 4th and 7 with around one quarter left. It’s probably best to just let them punt and get the ball back. I’d like to see that corrected.

Yes it's an advantage for ND to have an extra day, any extra time they have to get rest is an advantage

Leonard is a lot like Tony Rice in my humble opinion. He has leadership, and run the ball and is a threat to do that at any time, and both had, have, limits on their throwing ability. And remember, Tony Rice was the Irish QB in 1988, the last time they won the Natty! A repeat will feel just fine!
Tony Rice is arguably the best QB within the system Lou Holtz ran that I have ever watched play at Notre Dame. He was that good.

Fast. Football fast. And ran the option to near perfection.

And played against the toughest schedules I have ever or will ever see at Notre Dame.
