Willingham

When he failed miserably at UW, it vindicated ND ejecting him from the HC position early. I went to the 2008 ND vs UW game. There were "Fire TY" flyers and posters everywhere. Somehow UW escaped the "Racism" narrative. Yet nobody really talked about how below average he was his entire tenure as a HC.
Lets face it, Notre Dame being a private Catholic College was part of the media hate.

If you read my post, you'd know that Sneed had nothing to do with my comment.
Oh shit, I'm sorry. I guess that must have been earlier in the thread. I thought maybe you didn't want to say, because you didn't want to talk shit about some ND player, but apparently you're quite happy to, I just missed it. Anyway, Sneed has come in for some scorn, but he seems to playing pretty good of late!

Lets talk PSU

I think Penn State's offense is better than Georgia's, but Georgia's defense is probably a little better. So overall, I might give a slight edge to Penn State.

Penn State's QB, TE and RBs are better. So they have more playmakers on offense. Of course, I'm using Stockton for Georgia's QB comparison.

Allar, at least in some games, struggled with pressure. I think the defense is going to have to send a message early and often that we're not going to let him stand back there and pick us apart. I think I read/heard somewhere that Allar had trouble setting protections against BSU at times so I'd imagine he could be in big trouble against Goldens schemes. Either way, when we blitz on passing down, we're going to have to get home with them.

That said, PSU is more complete on offense compared to Georgia and I imagine PSU is planning for our pressure schemes and getting the ball out quickly to playmakers to try to neutralize the rush. That may make tackling on the perimeter in space paramount if they can do this.

I know I've said it all post long on here but I don't like this game for us at the moment. With the injuries and PSU having extra time to rest and prep, it just spells disaster for us. I hope I'm very wrong and can come on here and eat my crow after the game.

How much money did ND save extending MF before he beat Georgia and made it to the final 4 ?

To add ...

When I talk about small sample size what im referring to is that sometimes way less skilled teams can mask just how far less skilled they are in a single head to head match but the skill will eventually rise to the top as the sample size gets larger.

This is why in other sports they play multiple games in a series to expand the sample size and allow the truly best of the two teams to rise to the top.

In football there is no series it's only one do or die game and because of that it adds a lot of unpredictability/variability to the outcome of the game regardless of how much better/skilled one team may be than the other which is also why I don't bet on football (essentially it's too unpredictable)
Even in sports that play a 5 or best of 7 series, teams with the best talent have lost more than they've won. You're really clueless when it comes to this stuff. Computers and formulas only go so far. There are many other factors outside of talent that impact games and their results. until you understand that, you'll continue to be clueless.

Soccer is where this really resonates.

Pele was a top athlete in the 60s and 70s. Could run 100 meters in 10 seconds. He'd reap modern gains.

Franz Beckenbauer a great defender of the same era said he would probably be much less competitive in the modern era...as even the best sports science would not improve his slow speed.

Modern day Messi, considered the best after Pele and Maradona, needed hormone treatments to build up a skinny body...and would have been brutally hacked to death back in their day, as he lacks their toughness.

Modern soccer has lighter balls, cleats, aerodynamically tuned to produce more goals...refs DEFINITELY protect players from violence now. Ih played at semipro with a lot of pros growing up...these guys drank, smoke, and had no special diets for the most part. The ones who focused on fitness really stood out...but not all were as talented.
Soccer doesn't resonate with me in any way, so when you mention soccer I don't bother reading.

No chance Pele ran 10 flat in the 100m

I have seen that many times as a coach. You got one guy with high football IQ, understands assignment football, uses strong fundamental technique, but just an average athlete. Then you got another guy, great athlete/explosive, No understanding of what his assignment is, lost on every play. I would always play the former.
Who's the other guy, Jaylen Sneed? He's made some plays this year. Maybe his PFF grade isn't the highest.
