BC won't be easy at all after seeing the game against Wake, we really looked average all around and I am hoping it was just a lack of enthusiasm due to the opponent as well as emotional stress with senior day. I am not saying we shouldn't beat BC but if these kids play this way at Fenway they could easily go down.

If we do win that game I am not sure if we can go on the road and beat Stanford. They look strong on offense and the defense is still good. I think Oregon just had everything rolling with their QB finally getting more time and they were able to put pressure on Stanford's offense to score more points. Basically I look at it this way, if we can't stop Stanford's offense then we have no shot unless our offense is playing a great game like Oregon just did. Also our defensive players are just not that good and we get reminded of this each week so unless they improve fast it will be tough to watch. I am sure people will keep blaming BVG but it isn't his play calling, it is player execution.

Lastly, even if we go 11-1 we probably don't get in because of teams like Stanford and Temple losing. It sucks because we schedule strong programs but that doesn't mean they are going to be playing good that specific year and it is hurting big time right now. Of course we still need other teams to lose and with Oklahoma St. getting lucky against an average Iowa St. team, it really hurt our chances. Now they need to lose as well as Oklahoma because they will give the nod to the Sooners if they win out. In addition if Michigan St. wins out they would jump us. Iowa will jump us of course if they win out and go unbeaten. Bama is in unless they choke to Auburn, lol not happening. I think Florida loses to FSU but if they beat them and upset Bama they would be in first. Shoot the way that cheating North Carolina program is rolling right now they could end up in the playoff. Freaking pathetic they haven't gotten any penalties yet from the NCAA for having a fake class.

Oh well, there are so many variables to this I just don't see us getting a playoff spot but I would still be thrilled with a 11-1 record, the one thing our players and coaches do control. It would hurt not getting in to a playoff at 11-1 but the system is messed up anyway and until they make it a true 16 team playoff, all conferences getting a shot plus a few at large bids, it will stay that way. 8 teams is better then 4 but leaves out "non" power 5 schools which is crap and they know it.

Regardless we have another win with a great shot at 10-2 or 11-1 so I am very happy with our players and coaches for all I have seen. Hopefully we finish strong for recruiting as well because we need some help on defense. Gotta hope for the best... Go Irish!

Oklahoma beats TCU and Oklahoma State ,they will jump ND for the 4th spot in the BCS .Just have to hope that TCU,Baylor ,Oklahoma State ,Oklahoma beat up on each other .I could see a 1 loss Big 12 team in because of strength of schedule in the last 3 games while ND beat A below average Wake Forest(only real blow out losses to UNC and NC State) , take on a below average and poor offensive team in BC and a 2 loss top 20 team in Stanford (ranked 7th this past week)

No PAC 12 team . Also North Carolina is scoring well in the ACC .Could see them possibly beating Clemson in the ACC
Championship game .

Michigan St without Connor Cook ,no chance agains Ohio St..

ND is in great shape to make it in. The playoff committee is placing a lot on eye test and quality of loss. Oklahoma lost to a bad Texas team. OSS almost lost to Iowa State. OSu will lose probably to Baylor

I don't see us moving down

Doubt very much Oklahoma jumps ND at 11-1 with their loss to Texas

OK might jump us, but the biggest hurdle is the transcontinental trip play in Palo Alto against a team that will be playing pissed off with nothing to lose. I think ND will have to play its best game of the year to come out 11-1. If they do and Ok st loses, I think we squeak in over a 1 loss conference champ OK

Very disappointed with our offense against Wake Forest .The score should have been around 42-7 instead of 28-7 Style points do matter .and I'm a little worried that the BCS committee might not want to exclude a Big 12 team again .

Not happening and if you want proof just look at who got in last year, Ohio St., after getting smacked at home by a bad VT team. I would agree with you if we had a better schedule but our only good win now is against Navy, though I personally think Navy is a good team but not on same level as Oklahoma st., Baylor, and TCU. Honestly I think Oklahoma st. isn't as good as their record shows but it is hard to determine anything from the Big12 but you can't take away from the Sooners for at least scheduling Tennessee this year which is a strong out of conference program regardless of how good they are right now.

The other problem is the injury with Boykin from TCU though I don't know how bad? We really need TCU to beat Oklahoma or Oklahoma st. but that TCU team is nothing without that QB, I mean they have no defense at all. Clemson can't drop below ND, Ohio St., can still get knocked out but it will have to be Michigan beating them, which is possible but I think Michigan is overrated... still so is Ohio St. and it's a rivalry game at Michigan where they have less to lose so who knows. Bama's only test left is in the SEC title game against Florida. They have a rivalry game against Auburn but man that team looks terrible and Florida doesn't look much better. I think FSU beats them and that would give hope that Bama could get upset in the title game but I don't see it happening.

Like I said, nothing matters right now except our players going out and playing better than they did against Wake. BC isn't terrible and that field scares me, the freaking end zones have no room in the back so hopefully neither team has players getting hurt. Of course Stanford is the big game and as someone above mentioned, it will have to be the best game of the year from our players and coaches. Stanford is solid and has nothing to lose now so they will play like it is their title game, plus they hate ND like others and it is just more motivation.

Remember '93! BC has a way of thwarting our plans!!! One week at a frickin' time.

Disagree totally with our only good win being Navy (which is definitely a good team). Temple, Pitt, USC, all quality wins. We play 4 teams in the current top 25, with Pitt and Temple just outside the top 25. Don't tell me that that schedule doesn't stack up.

Are you joking? BC is AWFUL. If you're worried about them then why talk about ND in the playoff? ND could play their worst game of the year and will still win by 10 points at Fenway.

Oklahoma has a great win. ND doesn't have a big win yet. Stanford screwed ND last night. Winning out will not be good enough. They need help and hopefully the big 12 bangs each other around.

If okla st or OU win out they are in and here is the rest of the playoff 4:
Ohio State, Clemson, and Bama.

Kelly ruined it by going for 2 @ Clemson.

BC has the top rated defense in the country. #1 in total defense. #1 in rush defense, #5 in pass yards allowed, #3 in Scoring defense, #2 in 3rd down conversions defense. This is real and this is their bowl game. Take them lightly at your own peril. Expect BC to mirror Wake in their offensive approach. A turnover here, a drive killing penalty there and you have yourself a down to the wire cliff hangar on November 21st. And, BC had extra time to prep for this game because like six other Irish opponents, they had a bye the week before playing ND. That's the price of being half in the ACC.

BC is really bad on offense. It's the worst BC offense I have seen since 1978. As bad as their offense is, their defense is the best ever. They have half a team. The offense looks like high school kids compared to the defense. Tom Brady could not move this offense!

Question for the ND season ticket holders, is this game part of your season ticket package and how many fans will travel from South Bend?

Exactly. That stupid SOS perception bullshit changes every week.
One team has a bad game at some point after you beat then everything goes out the window. Whatever.
Ridiculous.

For that way of thinking ....then Alabama should drop because did you see just how amazing that HUGE...cough cough ..win was against LSU.

Oh yeah...the same way overrated LSU team all year long who can't pass to save its life that just got whipped by Arkansas. The team who just beat ole miss....

Oh yeah...ole miss beat Bama.
The very ole miss who made offensively challenged forida look like NFLers ....lost to Memphis after being up by 14-0, oh and lost to Arkansas.
That ole miss.

But Alabma is everything since they held LSU in check. W H A T E V E R

Grin up. Notre Dame will be fine. ND might finish # 5 or # 6 final 4 playoff.Next year ND will be high rank.

You misunderstood what I was saying, I was talking about where teams are currently ranked and Navy is the top win. I agree USC was a good win and Temple is decent, not sure how you place Pitt in there but it doesn't matter either way. The fact is Oklahoma now has a better win over us and they will value that more than a "quality" loss... plus the Sooners still have 2 higher ranked opponents so if they win out there is no way they place us 4th in my opinion, but I would love to be wrong.

Regardless we need 2 more wins and that is all we control. BC will be tough, regardless of what some of the homers on here think. No need to even look ahead to Stanford right now and hopefully the players realize that. Let's hope in the mean time we land a big recruit as well!

Definitely agree and we should be better on offense next year with Kizer and others getting more experience. Plus we can get some injured players back which is important but we still lose some key starters, especially on defense where we are average at best. Also our schedule is ridiculous next year! At Texas, Syracuse, NC State, and USC... home games against Michigan st., Duke, Stanford, Miami, and Navy. Even with programs like Texas and Miami down right now you know they will be back so this has to be one of the top ranked schedules in college football for the year.

Quality wins will trump quality loses as they should.

As to which polls are the most important..........

The only important poll will be the one after the conference playoffs.

No way Ok ST runs the table & OU lost to a team(Texas) that ND beat. ND is in, plain & simple.

Stanford's loss to Oregon(3 losses) takes luster off ND-Stan but not much.

This is getting nuts. Let the season play out and when ND wins out they will be in at 11-1.

Here's what some think..........

- Oklahoma State wins out they jump ND. That's possible but I don't see them winning out!

- at 11-1 OU jumps ND? I just don't see that with a bad loss to Texas who ND beat on.

- a one loss UF jumps ND? Not going to happen.

- a two loss Bama jumps ND? Not going to happen.

- Iowa wins out and jumps ND? Not going to happen.

What am I missing? ND wins out and they are in.
