I say yes but he will share with Jurkovec and Phill will replace him by game 8

Wimbush is going to have to learn how to throw the ball plain and simple. Just completely inaccurate last night and it cost us the game. It’s hard to run when there is no respect for passing game.

As for the receivers, if you have a QB that’s struggling, if the ball hits your hands, you need to catch it. Too many drops!

The ND QB has to be the hardest position along with CF for the Yankees. Every back up is the next Joe Montana. Posters couldn’t wait for Kizer to leave so Wimbush could start.

I think that’s a fair question. All season long I’ve been expecting improvement in his passing, and we’ve seen steady progress, until last night. That said, he’s been in the system over two years now, and in his biggest game of the season, his mechanics and accuracy sucked. I couldn’t believe the wobbly wild throws, and actually wondered if he had an injury to his throwing hand that went unreported. The optimist in me expects to see Wimbush excel as both a runner and passer against Navy and Stanford and in a big bowl game. The pessimist says we’ll have a legitimate QB competition this Spring.

He does remind me of Vick in his college days. When he was good no one better but he faced good teams va tech suffered

He did. His First BIG game on the road in hostile environment. Everyone in the program talks about his smarts and work ethic, etc... Hopefully, he learned a lot last night and shows he has the ability and mettle to apply what he learned, etc...

Last night reminded me of when Denard Robinson against us turned the ball over time and time again.

This is what can happen when you have an athlete playing QB. Take the good with the bad.

And we should probably cut the kid a little slack in that he is still just a first year starter

Say what you want about Vick but he was a far more freakish talent than Wimbush. Vick was faster and throwing...well his accuracy was never as bad as Wimbush.

Can you honestly say you've seen a more inaccurate QB starting the position here. ?

Carlyle Holiday was more accurate than Wimbush.

You can do things to tweak accuracy but you can't make someone fully accurate from being totally wild.

Even being just an effective passer would do wonders... But at this point I'm not sure they can even make him an effective passer. He really is that wild.

Last night on the first interception he did everything right. Footwork was good, stepped into the throw, but the ball sailed three feet too high. Why...it was his targeting and release point.

It was a throw that should have been on the numbers.

How many deep balls has he missed on. Many.

Im the recievers harshest critic of catching the damn ball but his accuracy is atrocious.

How about ghat screen pass....perfect play called.. Miami blitzes screen pass...he would have taken that pass the distance.

Well he couldn't because the throw was at his cleats and behind going against his momentum.

This accuracy thing is a real problem

I agree it is a problem. On the plus side big strong and very fast he has a great arm. The team believes in him and so do the coaches. The problem is his decision making It was terrible and accuracy. As we all have noticed. Jurkovec spelling not sure as a high school player looks more polished right now. And he won’t be ready for prime time as a frosh. Even if he plays we will get warts in the beginning. Brandon needs a so called QB trainer in the off season

I think he'll start but if he wants to play in the NFL, he should ask to.be switched to slot or wide receiver.

The guy Wimbush reminds me of is Michael Robinson from Penn State, who went on to a successful NFL career as a fullback. Robinson was also about a 50% passer and an excellent runner. And he was about the same size as Wimbush, too. So maybe RB, but I agree Wimbush will need to change positions to make the NFL.

But he can still be very successful in college. So I expect him to be our QB next year.

Good comparison.

It almost looks like Wimbush has the yips. He just looked extremely uncomfortable throwing the ball. I thought he had Eq on that early bomb but Eq just couldn't get an extra gear to get to it. Would have been a whole different game if that goes for a TD.

I agree. Some of his throws remind me of when Chuck Knoblauch used to play for the Yankees.

I say, yes. Winbush will not only start but be an outstanding QB the rest of this season and also next year.
That being said, going into Fall and Spring Ball, I think that all positions should be wide open to competition,
And if some one at any position is the best player, QB included, than that player should play and be the starter !
May the best man win and play !

BW lacks the leadership to be anything special at QB. PJ will be the man asap. And BK I am guessing will be moving on to the NFL.

Especially the second part one can only hope so.

What everyone is missing is everyone knows BW is not the most accurate passer. With this knowledge why didn't the coaches scheme a few easy passes to get him going? It seems like after 2-3 incompletions his confidence goes.

Exactly

They should have run the ball at them none of this pulling guard stuff that slowed the Irish down and made it eaSY FOR THAT ATTACKING D to disrupt. We looked slow because of that. Eventually, they could have passed the ball or threw some passes that no one else could have got. This was a bad offensive game plan

I echo again...they don't put our team in the best possible position to succeed. That's all you want from your coach. Help the players help you

Long has done well this season overall, but that game wasn't his best game plan.

Wasn't MSU a big game in a hostile environment? I thought the players are so totally focused on their jobs that everything else is blocked out. The crowd might be a problem with calling signals at the LOS, but I figured BK would have had all that worked out in preparation. I really believe the moment was too big for many of our guys. They treated it as another game. Canes treated it like a national title game. Probably some coaches were sucked in also. And, how is our QB position coach doing in the development of BW?

Stupid post. BW is a college player. You're talking about a little high schooler who might be good.

"And we should probably cut the kid a little slack in that he is still just a first year starter"

After 9 games -- that title "1st year starter" kind of goes away.

The atmosphere difference between MSU and Miami was night and day -- while MSU was a little intimidating -- Miami was a totally different animal. These guys looked scared to death at times.

"Canes treated it like a national title game"

Yes they did! And probably needed little coaxing from the coaches --- these guys were jumping around all night long -- ND looked subdued and stoic.

No actually, I don't think it does. it's his 8th start and really his first start on the road on the big stage like that.

Michigan State was not a BIG stage???

err. I guess we forget true greatness needs no warmup games or excuses. Case in point Joe Montana. I think it took him 2 quarters of his first game on the road to get the hang of things. Thank goodness he was a big game player who sucked in practice. Got his chance and never needed the label of first time starter Excuses
