from will on twitter, will leave early. says he truly wanted to come back but will enter the draft and work to get his degree. I really just wish instead of answering the question of coming back like he did he would've said "I haven't made a decision and will weigh my options after the year". instead he comes out and says "I'm not leaving I'm coming back to get my degree." Well, our 2016 roster isn't looking as formadible as it did a few days ago. But we'll still have a lot of talent.

I agree on your point about originally saying he was coming back. I found it odd how many people celebrated as if it was a guarantee he would be back.

I would say ND will lose its Top 5 players:
1) Jaylon
2) Stanley
3) Day
4) Fuller
5) Procise
6) Russell?

As much as I love Will Fuller's playmaking ability, if there's a position we can afford to lose a stud, it's at WR. We are stacked at WR with elite 4 star recruits 2 deep.

Also, I'm glad Fuller spoke frankly about his feelings. Tired of everybody out of this program using cliche responses to deflect questions. After all the injuries to his teammates this year, you can't blame him for maybe weighing risk more.

Agree about being deep at WR. We will certInly miss him, but we have a lot of talent that can and will step up. Also, while I definitely want him to come back, not sure KR can be considered as one of our top players this past season. I think we are also in decent shape at RB position assuming Folston returns.

The good news for our Irish is that we didn't lose a ton of plays in one specific area.

Tori Hunter Jr is our new #1 and a budding superstar plus A Jone will be a stud Pass catching TE
Losing 2 great ones but makes room for next best players

I like Will a lot, seems like a real nice kid, but I have a real hard time rooting for anyone who quits on his team, and I believe leaving early, without degree in hand, is doing just that. I'll thank each and every one of them (those that leave early) for what they brought to ND, but I cannot root for them at the next level. Thank God we have people like Manti and Tyler as the people/players I'll continue to root for.

I don't and while I find your opinion lame , dumb and tragic you're entitled to it.

Best of luck in the NFL Will and thank you for your efforts here at ND.

Lame? Dumb? Tragic? Really? Are they not quitting on their team? Not sure how you can look at it any other way. Your given a 4 year ride to ND, and your goal is, and should be, to graduate. Short of that, you are not fulfilling your end of the bargain. That's quitting. Hey I'm not rooting for injury or anything like that. I just won't follow them in the NFL.

I'll certainly miss Fuller too. I personally think he would have benefited from sticking around another year, but who am I to judge.

I believe he definitely would have benefitted staying around for reasons on and off the field. But he's made his decision, so be it. Next man in.

Brown is a senior. The speed factor will be missed badly. Something said about Fuller's big play ability. It was very rocket - like. This is a big loss early on. ND has recruited some talented WR's but I would have like to have see the young guys like Boykin, St. Brown, and Claypool develop as the second option . Robinson needs to step up bigtime. Hopefully now a full court press is on the get Robertson for Georgia. He can make an impact right away. The receiver group is good but there are no Fuller's in this group going into Texas that will put a scare in the longhorns. I would have liked to have seen some of these guys play tis year but BK never used his depth at WR with the freshman. St. Brown comes to mind as a guy that can become a star . Time will tell.
Fuller and Procise were super fast playmakers . Big losses.

Nice bait and switch by Fuller - could have been the best ever at his position at ND - anyhow, at least the NFL will coach him up on catching the ball with his hands away from his body.

Dude you can't be serious. Don't be a fan boy. Upset because a great player leaves to chase his dream and it makes our team weaker. The guy came in an worked hard developed an developed himself into an elite receiver. To say you're not going to root for him is also stupid I root for every player that goes to ND and makes it to the nfl. It's great publicity for the program and the talent that is being developed.

Will Fuller can always come back and get his degree-----he'll be a year short. In this day and age that's not a big deal.

He'll go somewhere between the mid 2nd to mid 3rd Round. That's a big contract and a bunch of guaranteed money.

When guys see an injury like Jaylon had I truly believe that factors into their decision and it should.

While I agree he has some rough edges to his game they do have coaches in the NFL that can work with him to smooth them over.

The idea that we shouldn't root for kids who leave early is comical. He put it on the line for ND for 3 years at an extremely high level and IMO deserves nothing but our best wishes in his new career.

Yeah count me in the group that thinks its comical to not root for a guy because he left early. Its not like he's still taking up scholarship money.

He has to take care of himself. Might as well go pro and make your money. School can wait. Doubt any of his teammates view it as quitting. Real teammates want what's best for each anyway. They're not selfish.

I never mentioned being upset that our team might be weaker, has nothing to do with that. It's about commitment, which more and more is not honored. Nothing at all personal with Will, it's more about the flood of players that leave every year. The commitment seems to mean nothing to them, or anyone for that matter.

Hey you can have your opinion and I can have mine

You can have your opinion very true. I can't have a problem with a guy leaving early who is clearly ready for the next level in most aspects of the game. Especially those that come in and do the right thing. What I do have a problem with is kids that flip commitments. I would tell my kids do not commit until signing day because that school you chose you're going to.

Not sure about your commitment perspective. The contract between player and University is free room and board and tuition and spending money in exchange for football services. ND happens to make a four year commitment, but nothing suggests a quid pro quo on the players behalf. I have no problem with the handful of elite players opting to go pro early when it's in their financial interest to do so. The fact ND offers summer academic courses facilitates leaving with a degree after three years for those you take advantage of this. I think we have been very blessed to have guys like Manti and Stanley return for their senior season, and wish more opted for this route, but nothing wrong with those who don't.

I don't really care that he or CJ leave early, my point was that he was asked directly if he was leaving or not and he CHOSE to answer directly "yeah i'll be back". Then 2 days after the last game declares with a nicely written piece that shows he put some time into and had probably made his decision before Fri. Now maybe he really did change his mind recently, but he seemed adamant in Nov. that he was coming back in 2016. My gripe I guess is tied to the fact that we looked like we could be stacked in 2016, now it will be another 9-3, 10-2 type of year probably.

I am sure watching Jaylon Smith's knee explode factored into his decision. Melvin Bratton from the "U" was a sure fire #1 Draft Pick back in the day, and blew up his knee in the 4th quarter of the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma. Ended up getting drafted Round 5 and was never the same, Or how about Marcus Lattimore?

I applaud anyone who decides to stay for a 4 year commitment, But you also have to understand and support the kids who decide to leave one year early. God Bless the kid and I hope he has a long and fruitful NFL career.
