Its not rushing three that's the issue. Its overall execution. They rushed three on the first play and had a sack.
It's Isaac Rochelles fault for the face mask. Hogan was tied up and going nowhere. He should walk home.
No. You put pressure on the QB by rushing 4 or even 5 when the game is on the line. All GOOD defenses do that.
Its a matter of opinion. That's your opinion. There are less guys in coverage if you rush 4. Neither way is right or wrong. Pluses and minuses to both.

I thought the same thing ! Blitz the darn QB! He had all day and made the big play ! What a disappointment !
Kelly is a good coach, but will never be a great coach ! Just about ever team we played this season was in the game till the end , we were lucky we did not lose sp a few of those games , but tonight we go bit righ in the butt !
Not really a matter of opinion. The facts are, QBs make mistakes when there is pressure on them, and not when they have time to throw. That theory holds true in the first quarter as well as the last few plays of the game.
Maybe they should have. Brought the house. Couldn't have been any worse then rushing three!
Then if they complete a fade or a slant for a big gain., you'd be complaing that they should have had more in coverage.

I didn't mind 3 man rush because conservative is fine when there is only 25 seconds to go. All they needed to do was avoid a big play, but ironically 8 guys covering 4 or 5 was not enough to stop Hogan from finding a wide open receiver less than 3 seconds after hiking the ball.
Give them 5, 10, or even 15 yards, but DON'T let them get anything over 20 and we likely win. Complete choke job!

for over a decade ND has not had a kicker who could kick the ball through the end zone! kicker after kicker.
ND gets the lead with 30 secs left; you have to play enough D to win in those situations!
