Which 2 teams have gone to major bowl games 5 of the last 6 years?

The Virginia game was a Houdini like escape for us. Kizer's game saving pass was terrific. The fact that it was needed against a 4-8 team is discouraging, but par for Mr.
Potato Head.
Ps. You read far too much emotion into my posts....
name calling. the weapon of choice of the uneducated. maybe you should ask Notre Dame for a refund.

are the recruiting rankings not based on someones opinions of the players recruited ?
Let me dumb this down for you. Did I give a factual account of Rivals rankings? Yes or no?

It appears your suggestion is that Rivals opinion is without merit. Imo they do a solid job and thoroughly expose the pork chop as an underachiever...

the thing is ND is finishing seasons placed about where recruiting rankings would predict they finish; in fact ND is finishing a place or two higher.
the only disappointment stems from the 'sunshine pumpers' and their lack of knowledge and understanding of college football in general and recruiting in particular, emotionaly pumping up expectations.
now, you can complain that you think that ND is not recruiting as well as you believe that ND can recruit.

Yep, it makes sense not being ranked for 3 out of 6 seasons with these recruiting rankings.....

2006 ND 8
2007 ND 8
2008 ND 21
2009 ND 2
2010 ND 14
2011 ND 10
2012 ND 20
2013 ND 3
2014 ND 11
2015 ND 11
2016 ND 12

One of the stats that the rankings services should put together are separate offensive recruiting rankins and defensive rankings.

Also when looking at final rankings; I discount the EV points as he never showed up! So that would probably drop that class a few spots.

when you are recruiting outside the top tier of teams (top 8) there is a bit more parity and teams in the 9-25 range will be competitive with each other. That is where the effects of coaching and development are most a factor.

Yep, and the best coaching of the diminutive one's tenure was done by "bend don't break" Bob Diaco who carried us to the title game.

In looking at the recruiting rankings versus season ending rankings it is clear that kelly's performance stinks.

Coach 8 & 4 deserves the recognition he receives here. Terrible game day coach - rivals Willingham. The hope is that Kizer is a difference maker and the staff can over come 8 & 4s directions. One last point, even if his recruiting were to improve I don't think the record will. Bad coaching and decision making is bad coaching and bad decision making - 8 & 4 attributes. Simply put, on Saturday 8 & 4 "stinks"!

"You're" not....

In 2012 ND had the # 2 scoring defense in the country. We gave up 12.8 ppg.
('bama was # 1 at 10.9)

In 2012 ND had the # 80 scoring O in the country.

"All hail Diaco! kelly stinks!"
I

yes you gave a factual account of Rivals OPINIONS. i don't give much merit to any of those sites as i am completely aware of how they operate. more name calling i see.. have you been over compensating your entire life ? sad and pathetic.

Apparently, you take issue with Rivals rankings and perhaps would prefer to believe that kelly's classes have been over rated and he is over achieving.

Sad and pathetic excuse making indeed.....

He stinks....

Hint: it wasn't us....
When you say "us" you must be referring to Michigan? They are the only fans so pathetic to try this.. Atleast NDs true rival (best rivalry in college) USC fans wouldn't try to pass themselves as ND fans Pick up your game kiddo

I actually agree with you to an extent. Kelly's one great year was with Charlie's guys. For the talent he's brought in performance on the field against teams with far lesser talent has been disappointing I think the guy has gotten a big pass from most on the board because the bar was set low by Ty and Bob. Given the crap Weiss inherited I think he was off to a decent start. Obviously his last year was a disaster. He also had to deal with the SC buzz saw that bk has seen a big watered down version of. But I hear some of the most incredible excuses for bk I just don't get it. Btw, I think he's done a much better job than you do but he's a B grade at best given the talent, resources, facilities, coaching, support, recruiting money to spend, story to tell etc etc.

He embarrassingly, amateurishly and publicly made it clear that they weren't his guys. He then issued an apology after Te'o's very public response.

nice revisionist history there. he lit a fire under a bunch of guys that weren't motivated and were causing a divide in the locker room. not everyone accepts change right away. kelly did what was needed to be done and those guys to their credit responded. that challenge to the players left from the weis regime set the foundation for the championship run in 2012, but spin it in a negative way as you always do.

Talk about revisionism... "Playin for my bros and that's it!!!!" Te'o posted, according to the Tribune."

"Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly has apologized to players who were offended by remarks he made concerning recruits of the previous regime who are still playing for the Fighting Irish, the Chicago Tribune has reported, citing a source close to the team."

It was so motivational that he apologized for it...

PS Credit to Diaco and Te'o for pulling things together on D....

kelly stinks as stated he's an average coach with a CFB colossus behind him. Reminder: Arguably the worst coach in CFB history brought ND to within a "bush push" of NC game consideration...

kelly is a fine coach for sure.top 15. so he apologized. the ends justified the means. teo blossomed under kelly. nothing amateurish about it at all. he knew exactly what he was doing and it worked out well. it was a huge step in eliminating the mediocre culture weis had permeated throughout the program. spin away.

Te'o "blossomed" under Diaco.... In fact, Te'o blossomed before arriving at ND.

He was a can't miss college superstar.....

if you are going to blame kelly for everything that goes wrong then he gets credit when things go well. teo was a significantly better player under kelly than weis. most if not all that played under both were. kelly and staff have done a great job developing players and the recent drafts indicate that.

where ND is and relative to the way things are conducted in college football today

ONLY Saban and Meyer would be guys you can feel would be an upgrade. Plus, we do not know if either could function where there are institutional value considerations!

So top 15? no! he is just outside the top 2

I give credit to Diaco "Defensive Coordinator, Linebackers/Assistant Head Coach"....

I will give credit to the vulgar gnome for staying out of the way on D.

You should have your head examined.

I haven't bothered to wade through this, but... Alabama and Oklahoma? Alabama and Stanford? I know Ohio State was on probation so it wasn't the Buckeyes.
