When is the Kool-Aid Crowd Coming

Chris Peterson at UW

Heard rumors is dream job is ND (like Holtz) when he was at BSU. Have to see how UW does this yrear. He took over the Sarkesian mess 3 years ago i think.

If I were Swarbick, I'd be talking to Mike Sanford about subtly introducing the idea to Peterson and see what he thinks. Hire Peterson, keep sanford as OC, hire Wilcox as DC and have Coach P and the gang work their magic at ND. They know how to win regardless of talent level.

This maybe a step outside the thinking, but if they could go young and bold. Sanford would be a possibility and your suggestion is something to follow up on. But the point is to begin quietly informing yourself (Swarbrick) about the landscape of college coaching. There needs to be a plan if this heads south. Death spirals are terrible things to go through and can set a program back a number of years between recruiting and putting together a programs master plan if not prepared for. The last 2 years of Willingham and Weis were terrible things to go through. Coach 8 & 4's tenure is coming to and end sooner than some here think. Just be prepared. Whether this year or next or the year after. It's coming.

interview on local news after BSU was getting all the attention for beating Oklahoma in the Fiesta bowl all those years ago.

remember also that there was a significant contingent of USC followers who wanted Peterson there. Beachcardinal may have more on this. Peterson and family did not want to live in LA.

peterson has a child with health issues and Seattle is probably one of the 3-5 best cities in the country to live in for the child's care. I don't know what the differences in medical care are when comparing South Bend to Boise, but I'm sure Chicago would be on par with Seattle.

Are you saying that, in an interview after beating OU in the Fiesta Bowl, Peterson publicly said he wanted to coach at ND?

No question that Chicago has medical facilities as good as anywhere in the country, but so does LA.

Please tell us more about the death spiral. When will death occur? This year? This decade? This century? How will we know that the program is dead? Is it already dead? Is it in ICU? Should we administer last rites? You are an f'ing joke.

The charade continues. Please go back to the Indiana board where you belong, fraud.

And you are a true idiot. And an example to everyone of what to not be on a board. Stupid and uninformed.

Alright, we've had 9 months to wait for college football to start and after one game every single person is ready to throw ND off a cliff! Its unbelievable. Everyone is saying ND blows and that Texas somehow also blows as well. So what if Texas wins big 12 or at least there division or even goes 9-3. I bet a lot of people will say well "that Texas team was pretty good." Everyone said they had freshman QB and center and yada yada. Freshman status means nothing in todays game. Some kids can flat out ball and others it takes a little longer. We had multiple freshman on the field. Last year we returned an ENTIRE TEAM, this year we have 7 returners. It was our first game.

As far as D is concerned I do believe BVG will be let go midway through season unfortunately cause I dont see drastic changes by the D this season. I do think his D is way to complex/challenging for these kids and his numbers have shown since he has been on ND's staff. Pro he may be better, but college is not his game.

As for Kelly, I agree, I thought certain play calls were odd choices, but when your offense puts up 47 I wouldnt say hes doing a bad job. Hes also fielding consistent top 15- top 10 recruiting classes. So call it what you want Kool Aid or some sane people like to use the team "realistic". I feel like majority of the bloggers on here are probably 17-22 yrs old who are a little more into using the term kool aid instead of understanding the full picture. Look Im also a big Husker fan, grew up in Omaha, you can say what you want about loving both these teams, but the reason I bring that up is because we had Bo Pelini consistently hitting 9 win seasons every year and we all wanted him out. Many people called it crazy because of his record and being at NE people think thats the best this team will ever do again. But look at both situations who do you think is a better coach, Bo or BK? answer is obvious and its BK. Bo is at Youngstown and no one will probably here from him again for a long time or ever in big time college coaching. If we drop BK he will get picked up in a heartbeat and I guarantee he would turn that program around. His history proves that and if you disagree then your just trying to be a negative bitch. The next question a lot of people dodge is who would you realistically get to coach ND? It seems A LOT of coaches dont want to be here due to a lot of understandable reasons. But if we did that you have to remember the process of losing a coach, bringing in a new one, firing and hiring new staff, losing recruits, probably sucking for 2 years. Is that something you want to do because our defense is bad?

Just my opinion, never bashed anyone directly but go ahead and call me an idiot for whatever reason, if so at least put a strong opinion as to why

It says you've posted 3,660 times. Are they all this stupid? Or has your life been so miserable you wish to share it with everyone.

Says the guy masquerading as an ND grad as cover to take pot shots at ND. Nice try, but nobody is buying your nonsense. Go back to the Indiana board.

If you cannot get dominant defensive personnel...which is Big AND Fast. You must commit to a philosophy. Oregon committed to having an All World Offense and having a smaller quick defense that creates turnovers. The downside is they can get mashed. It got them to 2 National Title Games.

Or build a defense that is BIG, can stop the run with 7 in the Box and will keep both safeties deep and corners loose. Give up some yards, some 1st downs, but no big plays. Downside is fast teams can hurt you in space. This is how Wisconsin, Stanford and ND under Diaco played defense.

ND is approaching an All World Offense with Kizer. They do not need a defense to win a football game they simply need a defense to hold teams to about 30 points.

And you are a true idiot. And an example to everyone of what to not be on a board. Stupid and uninformed.

Translation of Howard Hall 74's posts: "Hi, I'm Brian Davidson. I graduated from Indiana University. I hate ND and love going to the ND Rivals board to pretend I'm an ND fan/grad so I can bash ND. I've been banned from this board multiple times. Most people on this board can spot who I am instantly based on the similarities of my posts with my previous, now-banned handles. I know that I'm an idiot and fraud. I need lots of psychiatric help for my inferiority complex. Somebody please help me."

It's been many years, but some weeks after the fiesta bowl win, peterson was asked what would be his ideal or dream job, and his response was ND--i didn't say nor do i recall him saying he wanted to coach there and was waiting for a phone call so he could pack his bags and leave Boise, just that it was his ideal or dream job/coaching position.

Interesting. I had never heard that before. I wonder if he still feels that way.

if thereis any interest then go get him! mid-season, after or before! day or night or whatever

get on the bus train or plane! with an offer he cannot refuse! don't come back alone!

The 94, 95 and 96 teams were coached by LOU HOLTZ!!!!!! Who was as talented and accomplished a football coach as Meyer, Saban and Harbaugh, He went 6-5-1, 9-3 and 8-3. That's 22-11-1. Which is now the new normal. Meyer did not want the job because he did not feel he could win at the rate he was winning at OSU or at the rate he won at UF, It shouldn't be this hard to figure out. The best coaches in the country could win 9 or 10. But nobody is winning a Championship. Because anyone with designs on winning a TItle, is not coming to ND.
Let's start with a major bowl game victory in the next 10yrs... surely we can that right???

That hasn't happened in 23 years and with 5 different coaches. The answer to your question is NO...if the past performance is the best indicator of future results theory holds water.

hypothetically speaking:

IF year ten of this tenure comes and goes and still no major bowl win will there still be
the "pom poms? or 'Kool aid' gangs? ?

I think, unless some miracle happens on D, we can fairly guess that 7 is a long shot for a major W.
ND has a far more difficult schedule in '17. Defensive recruiting is still whiffing. It takes a couple years to build a Top D, So?

Chicken littles have no place in the foxhole. 11-12 games to go. Let's see what happens before we start patting ourselves on the back for being "right".

the meds dosage having been increased, and having recieved their instructions, they are back to posting.
(they are however still shaking sand out of their ears!)

Yeah, all those posts in 16 years. Almost as many posts as you have had screen names.
