I think we can all basically accept it will be a running play.

The question is, will it be:
1. A designed QB run
2. A designed RB run
3. Option play
4. Busted play that Zaire takes off and runs
5. Other (write in)

I'll take a stab at it and say:

Option play w/ Zaire keeping it.

May need to run a few himself at the start to help him bottle his energy which may keep him from making any early mistakes. Get him in the flow of things.

I think it will be a safe pass to the sideline. Of course, everything depends on where the Irish offense start at. If it's inside their own five, expect run. If it's toward the 30 or more, then MZ can open up a little to start their season. A called TO or a delay of game is not acceptable this time around.

After the first play or two.....just continue with the plan they used against LSU and I think they will be fine. But I've been wrong before. .....many many times.

They'll line up, let the play clock wind down, look to the sidelines, and call an audible. That's what I know. Kelly said they'd run up tempto since he got here. After the first drive with Crist against Purdue in 2010 I haven't seen any Oregon like offense that was promised.

I agree.....but it's also unseen at what level Texas is at at this juncture, which could also be said for the Irish. And i would dare say Kelly isnt going to hand them his game plan or playbook lol so you can probably sleep tonight.....no worries in being predictable. But I think everyone has a handle of what ND has moreso than Texas. And i would almost guarantee that their defense won't be as good as LSU's was. With that being said, ND ran right at LSU and they couldn't stop it and I feel pretty confident they knew the plan once it started. That's one small luxury of the option, defense may know the plan....but they still don't know the plan. Defense can predict the option is coming. ....but if ran to a high level there's not much you can do about it. I was merely saying that a similar game plan to the one used against LSU would work wonderfully.....not a blueprint of that exact night

So no one is thinking that maybe Kelly will let Zaire sling the ball down the sideline on the very first play huh? Part of me would like to see it.....but I'd rather see them establish the run game first.

You forgot … call a timeout.

QB boots right, O-line releases left, funnel screen to Fuller (or flip if on other hash mark)

Shift into the box and ring in the era of the NEW Four Horsemen......

Really I think play action and let MZ show off his arm.

I gotta admit I would be very surprised if a pass is the first play of the game.
I would be surprised as well...but then I wouldn't be at the same time. There are times when the O playcalling is conventional and times when it is not. Do you use the first play to get MZ comfortable throwing, or do you use it to showcase what everyone believes is the strength of the team in the O-line and TF toting the pigskin? At the end, it is just one play, but man I cannot wait for it!

A run or a pass. I don't think they will punt or attempt a field goal

Slant to Fuller (lines up in left slot)....

I-formation with Luatua at fullback and Folston at halfback. Release the hounds! Let the o-line dogs hunt and fake up the gut to Luatua and Folston with MZ in tow. It may not be pretty but it sure sets the tone - your 11 better be ready for our 11.

I do not know the 1st.....just hope the LAST is a VICTORY formation kneel down with Kizer taking a cleanup snap!

BEAT the moo cows!!!

I'm thinking a handoff to Folston and he takes it up the gut of the Horn defense. No tap dancing around, the pounding of the defensive line starts with the first play. :D
