At least he's consistent in that way.

The admin will extend him another 10 years with a $100MM buyout just to give the middle finger to their once loyal fan base.

look, this is brutal condition to play a game. I doubt anything can be fairly gleaned from this game!

years ago ND played LSU in similar conditions and won 3-0.

And while I understand his desire to get a little passing game going, I can't understand why he didn't try to run it when we were at the 7 yard line.

Guy clearly outthinks himself more than any coach I've ever seen.

Have to run the ball and run play action with short routes. It's going to be ugly all game long, better get used to it adata the play calling.

Certainly this does not have to do with Kizer
The conditions are awful for throwing. Ever since BK arrived in South Bend the running game has been secondary. We simply can't run the ball and won't be able to as long as Kelly is there. Stupid penalties are common under him, which to me comes back to coaching. First and goal from the five you should be able to pound it in with that line.
They are "good" pass blockers and AWFUL run blockers. Comes down to coaching. Just that simple

Once again pers is all over the place.

One minute he crucifies Kelly and the next minute he's apologizing for him. My favorite is Pers saying Kelly is bad but has done a good a job a coach could do outside Meyer or Saban. ??????

Fact of the matter the play calling has been brutal and even blew the taunting call gift with a first and five with a false start and more dumb passing calls on a wet field. False starts, sideway snaps and wide receiver screens with no footing to be had. NC State came ready to play and once again we didn't.

you gotta be fair when analysing things; what the heck are you watching? His QB cannot get a grip on the ball and DK's strength is downfield passing!

The game is 3-0 - not 30-0.

This game gets thrown out no matter how it ends; worthless for drawing any conclusions.

re Meyer/Saban thing

onlythose 2 guys have the name / success recognition that they could overcome the recruiting difficulties at ND. I cannot think of any coach currently that has that kind of draw.

Recruiting is the only way ND can get back to prominance.

ND is poorly coached and weak techically no doubt that is on the head coach.

If this game was played in good weather both teams would be in the 20's or more!

Our offensive line looks like they are pass protecting even on runs

So in other words the truth hurts.

no, but the fact we keep trying to throw and not run at all is completely stupid.

I hate to say it but we've known all week long it was going to be at a minimum wet and/or windy day. And this guy doesn't work on a bit of power rushing attack or a pistol play or two or anything other than this stupid let's throw on first and ten and run on second and ten approach.

We don't teach that!

Sloppy Field yes!!! But that no excuse for bonehead play calling with the rain. Run the ball all 3 times inside the ten. Worst case you kick a 20 yard fg.

Kelly told you in year 1 that you better get used to no run game in the red zone.

We are only 3 points down, and I think we will win this game Go Irish '

ND needs to score a couple times here in the 3rd, even if it's just field goals. When they turn into the wind in the 4th quarter, it's going to be nearly impossible to score heading in that direction.

NC State playing in the same conditions. I am sick of the excuses.

luv the commentary re weather

'red orange and yellow radar probably not good!'
What are you babbling about? Are we going back in time like it is the Clemson Monsoon that Kelly Screwed the pooch. Talent should win out in these type of games if you have good coaching. **** the doppler

Kelly will do plenty of things that he can be faulted for; this game is not one where he is the major factor.

Respectfully disagree. In weather conditions like this, a good coach does not take unnecessary risks. We had a shot for 3 points in the first half that he blew. Almost blew this shot too but fortunately Kizer only got sacked for a three yard loss, not a seven or eight yard loss.

Kelly is blowing worse than the storm today.

Even the announcers are dissing Kelly. Just blew his best chance of taking the lead.

And I wonder, why not bring Zaire in and let him run? No, we' d rather throw into coverage in a hurricane.

this is someone fault! someone is to blame and we will find out in the post game presser
(oh, hint, it will not be Kelly; or a coach!)
