We (ND) lost a lot to the NFL this year and are very young but very talent rich. The offense is awesome but the Defense has been really bad so. BVG getting fired was a good thing. Now ND can go after a top notch new defensive coordinator which is easier than getting a top notch Head coach.
*** Things are not that bad right now. The 2017 recruiting class is great so far including on the defensive side of the ball--- Plus we got Daelin Hayes and Kahleed Kareem two promising freshman Dends. If we hang on to the recruiting and finish strong I believe we will be in the playoff hunt again in 2017 especially if Kizer stays. Panic usually causes more problems than it solves.

*** This is not like the Bob Davy, Ty W, Charlie W. situation IMO. I think we need to let this year play out and see if there is improvement and if ND can get a great defensive coordinator.
Because I think Kelly would be great if his teams played better defense. Now that he is getting his offensive players the offense has been great.

*** Notre Dame is just so loaded on offense right now--- All we need is a good dcoordinator.

I think Tom Herman (Houston) would be a great coach.

I know I bang the drum about hiring Shaw but the reality is you almost never see a successful coach at a top program leave that program willingly to go to another school. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Bielema.

Bodi: you know and I know that these dream candidates that keep popping up around here are never coming, so, where does that leave us? Doctor Toby prescribes working at all legal cost to save this season despite those who want this season to tank. Improve and develop. Practice by practice. Play by play. Game by game. If that means 7 or 8 wins and a bowl, so be it, as long as the youth is getting the reps, improving, learning and prepping for the 2017 season. In the off season, hire the best available DC who is qualified and has a proven track record. Throw the necessary money at this candidate and prep for 2017. This team is an average defense away from being undefeated this season. Then, after all this, we can re-evaluate after the 2017 season, but, until then, do nothing that will chase any recruits away by all this firing talk.
