Clemson

Left 16 pts on the field on offense .( robinson drop on goal line - brown fumble - PAT's )

Handed them 17 pts via fumble - shanked punt - int

Different night ---ND 38 Clemson 7 maybe 14

USC

T Hunter holds onto the ball ND is heading to a 48 - 21 beat down

Dbags will counter w clap trap I am sure but this is pretty much how it would have gone down w a modicum of ball security .

ND is pretty dam good this year .

All teams have missed plays and dropped catches. It's part of the game.

Perfect seasons are close enough to impossible. A perfect game is even more rare.

Clemson had 14 on the board before ND got off the plane. Other than that, I fully agree with you. Denbrock should have nightmares for years after the drops in that game.

Would of, could of, should of scenarios are entertaining but of no value. The beauty of sports is the scoreboard at the end of the game is all that matters in determining the ultimate champ. We played a terrible first half of football and we couldn't overcome our mistakes against Clemosn, and the fact we came so close gives fodder to the what if scenarios of the OP, but it still counts as a BIG L on our record that will likely keep us out of the playoffs.

Just like a couple years ago with Oklahoma at S Bend. Tommy spotted them 21 points in the first 5 minutes

Or the opener against USF. 5 turnovers with 2 of them in the 5 yard line.

With Clemson almost every turn over was deep in the red zone as well. It was a hell of a game. And I would argue if it was either dry out or at home instead. ND wins.

But once it is done. There ain't no changing it

Yeah, and va never happened.... ga tech's furious comeback never happened....21-20 late into the half vs umass never
happened.....losing our lead to a disjointed southern
cal team and furiously rallying never happened.....the texas game was a gem.....other than that we have lacked consistency.....the good news is there is upside and we are still breathing...we pissed away the clemson game from the top down....

This is the whole point; ND does not play consistent football. This is the thing that has impressed me about Stanford since their opening loss, they are playing consistent football on defense and offense. ND simply can't continue being so inconsistent.

Besides having a quick start, Clemson forced all of our turnovers and built a big lead that our team, led by a young quarterback, was unable to overcome. Clemson was clearly ready for a big game; we weren't. That and the dumb 2-pt. play are on the coach. Dropped passes and the inability to hold onto the ball are on the players.

Watching Clemson spank Miami today makes me realize that was the one game we could not afford to lose because of our ties to the ACC. If Clemson wins ACC, there is no way Clemson and ND are going to the playoffs. If Clemson loses ACC, how do you put a team that beat the team that beat ND ahead of us?

Scott also dropped a sure TD for Clemson. ND still should have won that damn game. Joe Schmidt missed so many tackles in that game.

Oh that..... Big games often come down to special teams and turnovers.....sound familiar? I still can't believe their kicker dislodged the ball from Sanders.... we missed away a huge opportunity....and need to claw back...
