The sound of Swarbrick's silence

Why hasn't Jack Swarbrick publicly endorsed BK since Saturday?

I believe in Notre Dame. I believe that this is just another down time that will be followed by the rest of the college football world being forced to hear the Victory March as we win another NC.

Those claiming this is the death of Irish Football - well we have been dead several times before according to the likes of you. 1963 pundits said ND was dead.
1985 we were finished
titanic had people saying we could not recruit the best anymore- and if Weis accomplished nothing else he put paid to that BS. Weis was not a good HC but imagine if the Bush Push had failed? At least for a while we would have been considered back again.

And every time we have come back. So those claiming to be Irish fans saying its over now when those same sentiments have been shown to be wrong time and again= SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP!

Even Kelly brought us back to appearing in the NC game. Sad to say that was the peak and its been somewhat steadily going downhill since.

That trend is what will put Kelly away in the end. It is just the lack of competence at the AD position that is delaying things.

so for some time now, actually 2012, Kelly has been on a perpetual job search mission?
Geez, Notre Dame hires the unemployable!

Hmm... the piece of the puzzle that is interesting to me is that BK has been looking around (according to multiple sources...) Could it be that JS has a deal in the works with Fleck who has said he won't comment until after their championship this weekend?

The plot thickens.

1st off -- how reliable are these "sources"? The Yahoo article, written by Forde, is useless -- and the guy is a known ND hater. What better way to stir up shit. Until something concrete comes out, this is all simply BS on top of a shitty season.

What mentioned/rumored potential coaches have games this weekend (which would fit with option C)?

I've got:
Meyer -- OSU
Warriner -- OSU (I know, but the rumor was out there on this thing called the internet)
Niumatalolo -- Navy
Fleck -- WMU
McIntyre -- CU
Petersen -- UW
Rhule -- Temple
Stoops -- OU
Saban -- 'Bama
Kiffin -- 'Bama
Bohl -- Wyoming
Chryst -- Wisconsin

Any others?
Where's Jon Gruden? I am sure he wants to get back into coaching? He is usually on a wish list somewhere.

And the list you have is totally useless. NONE of them are coming to ND IF the opportunity arises (outside of Fleck).

It was very impressive how Texas avoided a long drawn out hiring process by firing and hiring on the same day. The only thing bad about it was the way they treated Strong the week of his last game.

I would hope Swarbrick would have the transition in motion before publicly announcing a firing instead of setting off weeks of talk radio garbage and other coaches using the situation as leverage to get more money.
Their situation was easy. Herman was the obvious guy, he's had multiple coaching stops in Texas, knows the high schools and the recruiting landscape, and always been successful. As long as he would take the job there was no need to look at anyone else if you are Texas. Contrast that to LSU's situation, was was obviously not nearly as easy, and they end with a guy who I have a hard time believing they ever wanted. When Jimbo said no and they thought Herman was jerking them around, IMHO they sort of panicked.

Gruden isn't coaching right now.

The ONLY point of that list was to identify the coaches that are still in the middle of a season and wouldn't want to be "rumored" as the next ND coach IF (and only if) Jack Swarbrick is trying to do what Texas did. It was intended as NOTHING else. Thanks for reading.
