The Irish offense may even be better in 16 than in 15.

1. Kizer and Zaire most likely improve due to another year practicing and knowing the offense.
The QB is the most important position on offense. It is tough breaking in new guys.
2. Even though CJ Prosise and Will Fuller, Chris Brown and some of the Olineman are gone the Irish are much deeper and will have numerous weapons.
For instance, as for receivers, we have speedsters Corey Holmes and Tori Hunter Jr. (who has experience) and Alize Jones the tall athletic pass catching tight end. Frosh Kevin Stepherson has shone in camp and in the spring game (a great diagonal pass catcher, Miles Boykin is a big stud who has looked good in camp, T. Folston is a good pass catcher out of the backfield, And I believe Josh Adams will improve in that area this year, Eq St Brown is a stud recruit who makes another tall target, McKinley is the most college ready freshman we have had in awhile according to coaches who have watched his game film. Justin Brent is big athletic target. Durham Smythe is another big target.

*** Anyway, with Will Fuller gone--- I believe Kizer/Zaire will look at all their progressions and not focus in on one guy to make a big play. But Tori Hunter might be Will Fuller 2.0.

3. T. Folston back healthy will greatly improve the short yardage running game and especially in the red zone and he doesn't fumble which is a big plus.
Josh Adams had a sensational freshman year and should even be better as a soph (especially on not fumbling) Josh is a homerun threat but big and tough enough to get the tough yards ( I bet he improves on this aspect of his game).
Dexter Williams has had a great spring camp and got into the endzone as a true frosh. He is the fastest of the running backs and looks like a natural too me.
I bet we use all three backs in many of the games. I love how Autry Denson has coached the young backs so far)

4. With the Mega beasts Quenton Nelson and Mike McGlinchey on the left side the Irish no where to run the ball with a yard or two go. Sam Mustipher at center looks good to me. He is a hard nosed football player and a highly ranked recruit who has waited for his time and that time is now. I think he will be a great center.
On the right side Alex Bars has been impressive to the coaching staff and has waited his time and his time is now. He is going to be a good one. I believe he will play Right tackle with his long arms and pass blocking skills. The surprise I think will play right guard (or maybe even right tackle?) was not even on campus in the spring (Tommy Kraemer 6'5.5" 309 lb-- He is a super stud and I believe he will be a 4 year starter (like Sam Young but he will live up to his potential I believe).

*** The big questions ;
1. How soon will the revamped Oline play together as a cohesive unit?

2. Can the Irish QB's cut down on turnovers ? And which QB locks down the STARTING JOB?
And will the backup stay focused on the bench?

3. Which of the new wide receivers starts making big plays and gains the QB' trust in crunch time?

4. Will the Irish players and coaching staff make red zone blunders a thing of the past? And become one of the better red zone offenses in the country?

5. Will the tight ends impose their will on linebackers and cornerbacks when blocking ESPECIALLY NEAR THE GOAL LINE?

6. Will the wide receivers continue the great downfield blocking of last years bunch?

The talent is there. It's now the chemistry that develops with experience. My concern is that the coaching staff having to decide in Fall camp which QB can bring out the best in this offense. IMO ND has a quality backfield and the run game can become lethal with MZ at the helm. I would love to see Brent move into the slot . It makes zero sense for him to be a 4th string RB. He has had experience at WR and RB . He is big and physical and can block in the slot as well. I would also like to see Adams Brent run the jet sweep as opposed to Holmes / Sanders ( injured) . Adams is a great outside runner . Go to texas with a desire to run with misdirection on every play and then throw off it. That equates to MZ at QB. I like both QB's a lot but you win on the road by playing great D and controlling the LOS in the run game. It's a tough decision for BK.

As detailed by Bodi, we have a lot of weapons on offense. The two main question marks in my opinion are how long it takes the OL to play as a dominant cohesive unit, and who among this talented receiver group emerges as the go to clutch receiver and who emerges as a lethal long ball threat.

Bodi,

Expect Tommy Kraemer to be about 320lbs by time he gets to ND in the fall. He'll be more "readymade" as a freshman than Quenton Nelson or Steve Elmer were and that's saying a lot. Not guaranteeing he'll start, or anything like that, but he'll definitely get a good look. The crazy thing is that he may not even have the most upside of the offensive lineman in last year's class. That distinction (I believe) may go to Liam Eichenberg, who at 6'6, will probably come to campus around 295lbs and will need some time developing strength much like Mike McGlinchey did. Make no mistake about it though, Eichenberg is going to be another 320lb'er when all is said and done and has the potential to be a dominant tackle, opposite Josh Lugg or Foster Sarrell (fingers crossed) who are a year behind them...

It's a lot of fun to think about what the offensive line could like like a few years year from now...

Foster Sarrell: 6'6, 325lbs (SOPH)
Parker Boudreaux: 6'4, 310lbs (JR)
Tristen Hoge: 6'5, 310lbs (SR)
Tommy Kraemer: 6'5, 320lbs (JR)
Liam Eichenberg: 6'6, 320lbs (JR)

That would be just massive and talented.

Bod,

I think it depends on what you mean by better. In terms of talent, yes maybe this is a better group overall. In terms of development, I'd say no, as I think last year's group was just a little bit more experienced and older.

One thing that really stood out about last year's offense was the ability to hit home runs using the pass and run. With Fuller gone, I think we're gonna see fewer 50 plus yard passes and scores. As for the big runs on the groubd, I think that will go down a little more, because while they do return J. Adams, you know Folston will get a chunk of carries at the least and he doesn't have that breakaway speed that Procise and Adams do. Dexter Williams has that speed, but I don't think he's gonna play much. Kelly likes sticking with as few backs as possible. I can't wait to see in 2017 the combo of Adams and Williams.

Lastly, the biggest question mark is the efficiency or more specifc the turnovers, 3rd downs, and red zone trips converted into TDs. Overall, I think we can all agree that the 3rd down conversions and turnovers were not a problem for the most part last year. What has continued to plague ND, since FOREVER is the converting of red zone trips into TDs. If ND can improve on those red zone trips and continue to convert 3rd downs and have minimal turnovers, then there's a very good chance this offense is in fact better than last year's.

Shakin, ND has had excellent recruiting classes for 4 or 5 years in a row. I think we our finally at the point of "reloading" instead of "rebuilding" just like Clemson last year. Clemson lost quite a few of their starters to the draft before the season started last year and replaced them and had their best season yet.
Players will step up to be stars. I think Tori Hunter and Corey Holmes are going to be deep threats that will soften the loss of Will Fuller.
And even if we don't lead the Nation in 50 yard or more TD scores the offense may be more efficient and have more 8 to 10 play drives with the running game and big targets like Aliz'e Jones, Durham Smythe and maybe even Corey Robinson.
Kizer and Zaire are going to be more experienced and deadly. I would be more worried if we lost our QB to the draft then a receiver.
*** I think the turnovers will go down as the QB'S are upperclassman and have a great QB coaches in Sanford and Coach Kelly.
*** Also Josh Adams and Dexter Williams have a year under their belts (so less chance of fumbles.
I believe Folston will take carries but Josh will get plenty also----Adams will get plenty of carries--- Just like when Jonas Grey and Cierre Wood split them.

Last year kelly put up the most points of any season in his tenure at ND. That effort netted us a # 34 ranking in scoring. Yippeeee.

Brady Quinn and Jimmy C. did not blossom until their Junior seasons and the team scoring went way up.
I expect the same thing out of Kizer and Zaire. 40 points a game will not be out of the question in 16.

Quinn scored less points his senior year than his junior year. He was also saddled with willingham his FR/SO years.

On quick glance ND has averaged 40+ PPG once in 1912 (55 ppg).

Last year was kelly's best scoring season at ND. He averaged 34.2 ppg.
Fatso averaged 36.7 in '05.
We'll be lucky to score as much as last season.

I'm hoping kelly gets ejected for yelling at a ref. That would be useful. Other than that he stinks.

You're a pathetic little loser. You are weak. You are gutless, and you would cry and run away from any adult male that grew tired of your shtick in person. Tell us more about your phony Long Island bouncer boy days you lying non-alum wimp.

For the football-smart guys out there, how much did Fuller's presence open up the rest of the offense by forcing the D to protect against the deep ball?

I know we have other WRs stepping in, but even if they're fast, they're not as fast as Fuller was & thus I would expect the D can play things differently.

My favorite post of 2016. The developmentally disabled jock sniffer just got smacked down. Again

If you look on TV and see the opponents playing 1 or 0 safeties deep. You'll know ND is missing Fuller. If some of the new guys can run by a few DB,s. Then it will be okay.
