Let the debate begin ! Kizer with the experience and long legs. Malik with the fire and big thick legs !

I think Malik Z. is going to win it in the spring ! I just picture Malik to be a beast in the RedZone !! Like he was against LSU !!

The story of Fire (Malik) and Ice (Dishone) !!

And look out for Brandon W !!! He is a player too !!

Seriously.. I don't know if it will be Kizer or Malik and I really don't care ! . They are both great !

Just think of the stud playmakers they will have around them like Will Fuller (probably) Josh Adams, T. Folston, CJ Prosise (probably), Alize Jones, EQuanimius St Brown, Corey Robinson, CJ "The rocket 2.0" Sanders, Torii Hunter jr, Dexter Williams, Durham Smythe and many others and a great Oline !!

We could use cones for defenders and still win !!

Go Irish !!
Finish the season strong !!
Win the bowl game !!

Agree. If Fuller comes back, you probably have the best collection of big play threats ND has had since the 92 team.

Offense will be great but expect the same ending if something is not done about the defense whether it's talent or scheme. Something needs to be done. 107th in turnovers gained and in the 60's in run and pass defense. That won't do it. Outscoring your opponent is what they do in the Arena League and it isn't a play-off winning strategy IMO. But yes, the offense should be big time in 2016, no matter if it's DK or MZ.

MZ has a tiny sample - in fact - he was struggling against Virginia .......DK has to be the front runner - BW has to be given a chance - I can't imagine a talent like him wanting to sit out for long. If the "D" isn't fixed we will need to be an Oregon on steroids and score 50+ per game.

Don't count out MZ based on his second game of his career. DK had some bad moments also. Let it play out this Spring. And yes, BW is there just itching to show what he can do.

Agree - just saying his sample size is quite small - its a nice problem to have ....hopefully the young man regains his full strength for next season.

Glad to read I'm not alone in thinking Kizer is not the annoinred starter for the next three years. He did a great job leading a great offense after Malik went down, but both Malik and Wimbush deserve the opportunity to compete for the job, and things should get really interesting this Spring. After Golson's sideline antics, Kelly must be loving the QB relationship he formed with Kizer, and Malik as well. Both hold themselves to account, and each has a strong desire to improve and excel. I don't doubt that Wimbush is of the same mind.

Whoever the choice at QB , DK or uMZ ,somebody is not going to be happy . Could you see Kizer sitting the bench when sports analysts see him with more pro potential than Zaire ?Possibly a first round pick in 3 years .

Malik is going to have a great spring and fall practice to supplant DK. Both seem like good kids/leaders do a great problem to have.

This is not not a knock on MZ, but I love Kizer and was very impressed with what he did this year. If he can improve on some of bad habits such as holding the ball too long, forcing a throw instead of throwing it away, throwing off his back foot, etc. Then I really believe Kizer could win the Heisman.

Will the OLine come together?

That with the Defensive bsckfield will be the big questions going into next season IMO

"We could use cones for defenders and still win !!" We tried that in the last series versus Stanford and it didn't work....

"Kevin Hogan sucks. I feel confidant we can beat Stanford just because Kevin Hogan is their QB."

"Hogan was spectacular. He finished 17-for-21 for 269 yards, four touchdowns, a 251.4 rating, and a finishing drive that will live in Stanford lore forever."

Good call....

Will be interesting for sure, but I tend to think Kizer will win it. BK got almost an entire year with him and watched him grow & improve significantly. Consistency is something we all want at QB, and I think that will weigh heavily in Kizer's favor. Inevitably we probably lose one along the way unfortunately (departure), but the last two years have proven that these guys need to realize they are one play away (injury) from getting the starting job.

I am more concerned about our TE production. Alize never quite materialized for us this year so we need him to step up in weight and blocking so he can become the trusted and every play TE we need. I'm also disappointed that we seemed to give up on Robinson, specifically in the red zone. Yes, he had a drop or two, but more often than not he made some amazing clutch catches and I think should have been more of a target for us in the RZ.

It's been beaten to death about our secondary. Honestly I am amazed that opposing offenses didn't throw against our corners on every down. We showed little to no ability to cover man to man (KR excluded although he was up and down as well), our safeties were rarely in position to come help, and we seemed to continue our historical pattern of PI calls - especially because we refused to look back for the ball. I have to agree with the confusion of other posters on this subject (talent vs coaching). Hard to believe that none of these kids can improve week to week, but they didn't.

With the whipping boy of this forum gone as our MLB, Sheldon gone and if JSmith leaves, where will our defensive leadership come from?

Seeing that Stanford does not have a lot of lore when it comes to football - then yes - one pass completion on a final drive that set up a 45 yard FG for a win - yea - I'll count that as Lore material. And I agree Hogan did play well.

As for Bodi prognostication - lighten up Frances - Bodi was fired up for the game and talking some smack here on the board.

CV - you are one wound up tight person. You need to relax a little and enjoy ND football. You do your best to find as many negatives as you can.

Do you agree or disagree on the following - Is this not the best football talent ND has assembled since 1993 ?

I think you folks read far too much emotion into my posts. If I wasn't having fun i wouldn't be here.

It's hysterical to see the hyper reactions to fact after fact.

As for your question, I'm not sure on the talent side. I think weis did a good job of stockpiling talent. weis/team effort in the bush push game may hold a slight edge over kelly's fsu loss, oklahoma win, stanford loss...

It'd be interesting to see that '05 team line up versus this one. I also think '12 was loaded.

Question: do you think this current team could beat either '05 or '12? (The '05 team would have been better with kelly at the helm)

PS Tillery is off the charts special.

The 92 team had Rick Mirer, Reggie Brooks and Jerome Bettis in the offensive backfield. However, the 1992 team also had Bobby Taylor, Tom Carter and Jeff Buriss. 3 First Round Draft Picks starting in the Defensive Backfield.

PS I can't wait to see Tillery with a full tank in 2-3 years.

Don't suppose the tag line will be 15 - 0 in 15?

I think Kelly will start Tommy Kraemer in 2016. Malik and Kizer will play more in 2016. Both QB will be ready for 2016 season!

I think it comes down to the health of Malik. BK might convince MZ to RS if he is not 100%. Schmidt never rally recovered . He was much better before the injury. Same with Grace. MZ is a special talent but if he is not at full speed no way he beats out Kizer. 2 QB system might be an option Kelly will tell them he did it at Cincy with great success. I hope Fuller wasn't being emotional with that statement about returning and means it. This offense will be the number 1 or 2 ( Clemson) in the country as long as the OLINE develops . 2 huge losses on that line. Offense is loaded.

McGlinchey graded out higher than Ronnie Stanley this year at 98.5. Quenton Nelson (5 star mauler) is a beast and will have a full year under his belt. Alex Bars is outstanding if healthy, Tristen Hoge has more upside than Martin at center. Steve Elmer will be back with two full years experience. We have outstabding freshman coming in including Tommy Kramer. We are reloading at Oline. We need to keep Harry H. and his outstanding recruiting and developing.
Just think this years Oline against Stanford helped block for true Freshman Josh Adams and redshirt freshman Deshone Kizer who gained 300 yards against Stanford !

Malik already redshirted his freshman year and, since it wasn't medically related, there is no chance for Malik to get a 6th year.
