Any chance we find a Tight End recruit or find a three star like Eifert. We are TE U, c'mon... Or are we okay until 2017?

One last question: IIO, or others -- do you think Chase Claypool can grow into a 'passing' TE option for ND? Does he have the frame to go 235-240?

Last year the TE position had 20 receptions. Jones had 13 of them. He's listed at 240 and that seems generous. I'm hoping he can get to the 250-260 range.

I wonder how many of those catches came from the TE lined up in the slot/wr position?

My guess is we go with the three we have, and crosstrain a DL who has played TE before to be ready to step in in case of emergency. Someone of TOS suggested Matuzka for that role. Then we get the new kids coming in 2017 to help out.

Hounshell is likely going to be granted a 6th year by the NCAA because he fits the profile they have laid out, and I think BK will give him the same proposition he gave him last year, that is, I think he'll tell Hounshell that he won't make any promises but if Hounshell sticks around and the roster shapes up to allow room for him then he'll have a spot at ND in 2016. We were over the 85 man roster limit after NSD last year but, as usual, we were below the limit by the time the season started. I don't see why this year would be any different, which means with Hounshell included we'll actually have 4 TE's and I think that is enough.

To answer the original question, yes, Claypool looks like he has the frame to become a TE if that were to ever become the goal but it wouldn't happen in 1 year so I don't think he would provide much TE depth for 2016 anyway.

What about putting some weight on Robinson and moving him to te? He is too slow to play wr in the nfl and te might make him a star.

our irish have at least three TEs coming back next year and plus two of the top five rated TEs for the 17 class verbaled and so I don't know why our coaching would be going after another one right now
