I am not sure what made the NCAA rule against Williams but obviously there was a reason and I accept that fact. What I don't understand is how a program like North Carolina hasn't been punished yet, at least not to my knowledge, after making up a class to pass its student athletes.

yes, the investigations require sanctions and penalties; they are trying to decide which small school no one cares about to apply those sanctions and penalties to.

Making up a class is no big deal compared to Auburn - Looks like they maintained a whole program:

In 2013, Auburn University’s curriculum review committee took up the case of a small, unpopular undergraduate major called public administration. After concluding that the major added very little to the school’s academic mission, the committee voted to eliminate it.

But according to internal documents and emails reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, the committee’s decision was ultimately overruled by top administrators after it met significant opposition from another powerful force on campus: Auburn’s athletic department. (Story)

They haven't ruled on us yet either. We're staring down a potential "vacated wins" penalty among other things for playing guys that were academically ineligible. If a paid employee was part of the scandal we may up up the creek....
