I have been an ND fan for a long time. Like all of you that are also devoted fans, I want more than anything for them to win National Championships. I cheer when they win and complain when they lose. But I have to say, watching the showtime ND football show has given me a different perspective. You know I watch game after game and critique the wins and losses. Why did he call that? Why didn't they just run? Why why why? One thing that I am guilty of is that I just see players on a field in uniforms and forget that these young men are sons, brothers and students. The Showtime series that has been on really shows the players in a different light. It has given me pause and to realize that football at Notre Dame is big but it's not the only thing that ND is about. Watching how the players connect with each other and the coaches is really remarkable. There is a genuine love for the game and each other. For me that is very poweful. I don't know how this rest of the season will go. But I can tell you that I am proud to be a Notre Dame fan. These kids represent themselves, their families and their school very well. Go Irish!!

I finally saw an episode of it last night. I thought it was very, very well done. It was interesting to hear Kizer talk about the change in expectations when he went from backup to starter. I also found myself getting nervous when I saw Sheldon Day playing miniature golf with Jerry Tillery on a school night. I remember my first semester freshman year--I seemed to be at the library every night until 11. I found the first semester to be the hardest stretch of my four years. Don't jeopardize your eligibility!

Unfiltered coach Kelly (paraphrasing) addressing the team pre GT "We have an injury and we go from being favored to underdogs? Are you shittin me?"
Telling the kids that no one "gives a shit" that ND has had injuries.
Showtime giving us glimpses we never would have otherwise seen. JJ injury, Malik in tears with each teammate after Va game. Kelly talking to the kids in real words (above)
It will be hard to watch if they lose. IF.

nice posts from both of you. I need to find out how I can watch this program - may need to get show time. Just got back from the GT game on Monday. ND is a very special place. Many great, great traditions that make ND such a great school. The campus is absolutely beautiful. The church is amazing, the grotto, etc. game days at ND are electric. IF there are any ND fans who have never been to a game there - you need to go. Go to a game in September or October when the weather is still good.

If the link I'm posting doesn't work, go to A Season with Notre Dame on Google and it comes up. You can do a free trial, if you want to go that route:

you can watch the shows for free on youtube as I have been doing. somebody on another irish board posted a link to the episodes on youtube and that is where I watched them

Watch the first episode here

I have a private link to EP3. But haven't found EP2 yet. If I do find them public I'll share them as well

thanks HDK - and others - Go Irish. Love the talent we have - what Weiss started (in terms of getting legit guys to come again - his best accomplishment ) and now BK doing the same and even better - bodes well for ND now and into the future. As long it is proven we can still sign high level players who can compete w/ the best we will get to the seasons of double digit wins again and who knows maybe a playoff spot. We need to stay as healthy as we can from here on out though. Anymore starters getting injured as BK stated will be too much to overcome.

Great points tk. It also gives an inside look at why the program won't win a national title ever again. ND runs their program the right way. I doubt any other big program comes close to running as tight of a ship as them. The dopes from the media will never understand.

Okay I'm now all caught up. After 3 episodes it is looking very good for how ND is presented!!!! Love the Our Fathers!!!! I think the coaches are great too. NOW.......whassup with Okwara skateboarding????? And Jerry T. out golfing instead of studying??? Love to see the behind the scenes stuff.

I enjoyed this week's episode. Was wondering how long it would be, before they started talking girl friends and such. And was great to end an episode without having to give a game ball to a player that is out for the season injured.
