Sarkisian, being Sarkisian at donor event

I would say it's a tremendous stretch to claim I was "bragging" about anything, much less how Haden reacted to Sark. I merely made a statement of fact on how Haden reacted, it certainly wasn't meant as anything other than information to the board who may not have known.

Keep in mind, never once in this thread did I defend or try and minimize Sarks behavior. What I was defending was the University in general when certain posters, as those posters always do, tried to make definitive statements related to USC based on what happened in this incident. Even then, all I did was point out their hypocrisy.

Blah, blah, blah . . .

We're familiar with your routine.

FYI - Seems the LA Times echoes my sentiment that Haden's wrist slap is backtracking from the tough stance Haden took with O'Neill. I couldn't have written the article better myself.

Haden put Sark on a short leash . . . right.

Hard to believe he was capable of the drumming he gave ND last year when you know this is the guy he is.

Steve Sarkisian has had some rough times personally, so you can imagine that he's not the best frame of mind right now.

That being said, Sarkisian has a history of venting behind close doors (he bashed Cal at a Washington donor event after snatching peak recruiter Tosh Lupoi away) and open ones (he made fun of fancy uniforms at Pac-12 Media Day, and Oregon was quick to pounce). Saturday night, he went peak Sark Week on Saturday Night at the Salute To Troy event. The Salute to Troy is the official kickoff to the USC football season and an annual school-sponsored event for big donors and is usually a festive showing.

But it turned south pretty quickly when Sark took the stage in front of the USC players, staff, coaches, their families and friends and all the assorted donors.

We only have some tidbits of his antics via Twitter, but here are the key points that we can focus on.

  • Sarkisian was definitely drunk at the event and slurring his words during the speech. That's been confirmed by multiple sources at the party.
  • Sarkisian dropped an F-Bomb while introducing his team to the donors.

Sarkisian could not complete his speech and was pulled off stage by athletic director Pat Haden and former Trojan legend John McKay.

Sark apparently said some other inappropriate things during the speech that we cannot confirm at this time, but it sounds like a lot of Trojan donors who were present were not too happy with the proceedings. We'll update the post if we can confirm any of the other things.

It sure gives this Tweet a whole new level of meaning.

Usc had the way better athletes. Butler was lost in the secondary that day. Even an idiot like Sark could win against a sulking Golson team.

LOL, ok then. At least do me a favor and don't make things up about what I said. You are usually better than that. Leave the vitriol and overzealous fandom to Classic Irish and cgvr.

Spare me the "better than that" speech. I didn't make anything up. You opined that Haden put Sark on a short leash because you want to defend USC's image. And that's cool, you're a committed fan. Like I said, we're familiar with your routine. But don't expect us to let that stuff go unchallenged. The LA Times article i previously linked has a nearly identical take on the issue as to what I was saying.

To Hell with SC!

Again, you are misquoting my words that are very clear in this thread to suit your argument that I'm saying something you don't agree with. Here are my exact quotes in this thread:

#1- "Sark got an earful from Haden last night for sure, and Haden put out a statement that said Sark got his message 'loud and clear'."

Then later...

#2- "It sounds like Haden really got in his ass and I would think Sark is on a very short leash moving forward with Haden. That leash might get some slack when he reaches 10 wins, but anything less and he might be in serious trouble."

My first statement was that Sark was publicly reprimanded by Haden at the event, specifically "he got an earful". My next statement clearly clarifies "I would think he is on a short leash...", which was also related to the "he got my message loud and clear" statement Haden put out. I wasn't defending Sark, I wasn't defending USC's reaction to the incident, I merely expressed an opinion on what I thought might happen based on what was made public.

You are falsely claiming that I am trying to use that as some sort of attempt to defend USC's image. I merely made a statement about the incident, and you and your bias can't see beyond my representation of USC as a fan. Add in the hypocritical comments from the regular anti-USC peanut gallery, of which I was clearly having fun with earlier in the thread, and I would say you have grossly mis-characterized my statements in this thread.

Yeah, that's what I would call an extremely lame counter punch. You and your crew were nailed to the wall over and over lying through your keyboards. In addition, your and other southern cal fans predictions on how the NCAA would rule were among the dumbest conclusions ever posted on this or any other site. How'd that work out? I just pointed out that you have a history of being full of crap. Don't confuse "vitriol" and "overzealous" with truthful irrefutable facts. It's nice to see that a standing ovation was given to among the most corrupt southern cal ADs in cfb history. Same old same old....

"I read between the lines and there was nothing but a lot of envy. They wish they all were trogans."

What a moron......

This is the difference between today's young brash coaches and what I saw growing up. Simply put Sark has no class.Haden should have him on a short leash. Haden at least may not like ND but he does respect them. When will sportsmanship return? It's sad when your head coach acts like a player. Where is the leadership? I gotta say I want the Irish to win more than anything. But if a Notre Dame coach did that, I would hope he was fired on the spot. Could any of you see Ara, Dan Devine, Gerry Faust or Lou Holtz acting like that? No excuse and no room for that nonsense. Heck, John McKay nor John Robinson would ever do anything like that.

Gary Moeller pulled a similar stunt, and Michigan canned him.

You're offended because I suggested that you're defending USC's image?

I guess that part where you were actually defending the difference in Haden's treatment between O'Neill and Sark with that physical altercation nonsense confused me.

I feel sorry for Haden, and then again I don't. He is a fine man who is trying to bring a program back on the right path that has far too many times been on the wrong path. He has his battles in that regard.

Then again, he did hire Sark. He should have looked outside of the Trojan past and brought in someone with his same desire to run the program in a clean and upright manner. Now he pays the price for settling.

The guy continues to diminish whatever reputation he had....

haden's sideline leaping into sarkisian's arms during a game, wrapping his legs around and straddling him was among the most awkward things I've ever seen on a CFB field.... There's no doubt that if they were behind closed doors they would have porked each other.

Well, I will say this. There is a lot of digging apparently going on right now by USC and Haden and there is a chance Sark may not survive this. Some reports that possibly he was drunk at practice before the event, which of course would mean he is done. We will see, but the story keeps getting worse every hour.

Its good they're looking into it. I hope they learn the truth, whatever that is. It will be interesting see what they do.

What's not helping him right now is at least half the fan base didn't like him as the hire in the first place, so there are a lot of people pouncing on this now thinking they may get him out. I think at this point there is little chance he doesnt get suspended, I think he was already fined, and if it turns out he was drinking at practice as is being rumored, he could be done.

We will see, but it's not looking good for him. Media tomorrow for practice will be insane.

Haden's got a tough job.

This is your most honest remark ever on this board:

"It sounds like Haden really got in his ass" (Freudian)

I guarantee it wasn't the first or last time.

Such is the life of a team where men go gaga over a guy running around in a leather skirt.

Sounds like he's trying.
