Rather have as HC? Kelly, Richt, or Dantonio?

Will stick with Kelly as I think he has done a wonderful job, especially with the uptick in recruiting, especially over the last few years.

Now, I would not mind seeing Dantonio either -- MSU is routinely a fundamentally sound team, and over, the past 4-5 years, has had a really good program.

BK. I think he gets ND. Just because a HC has been successful somewhere else doesn't mean they would understand just exactly what this university is about and what it would take to be successful here. Bumps and all, I'll take BK. The grass is always greener...............

If you had your pick of the 3 at ND. Which would you choose? And why?
I give Kelly a very slight edge over Dantonio, I just see Kelly as a better guy to sell ND to recruits than the more mellow Dantonio would be. But I'd be very happy with either of them. Richt is a great person, would be a guy you'd love to be carrying the ND banner, but overall he's really underperformed given the talent he had in his program, and the amazing talent that Georgia high school football produces year in and year out. With Florida on its collective butt in recent years Georgia should have been dominating the SEC East, but they weren't. Like Faust was at ND, the Georgia faithful loved Richt, they just wanted him to do better.

"Uptick in recruiting".......huh? He hasn't had a top ten class in 3 years.....

Obviously Dantonio. He wins Big time games. He has a Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl to his credits and owns michigan. Kelly doesn't have any really big wins yet, no quality bowl wins, and has a losing record to michigan.
More flatulence from rear end.

...but Dantonio has often lost to Kelly.
And like it or not....the head coach at ND has an intangible element.
He must be well spoken , articulate, and represent the University, not just the football team. A bit like a politician.
Dantonio is a fine coach, but I'm not sure has it in this category.

Biggest negatives on Kelly . Still can 't get over the number of close games against average teams . We had a lead on Virginia and almost let it get away , a last minute win against rated Temple who after giving its' all against ND was a disappointment at the end of the season. . As good as BC's defense was , ND should have won going away . Wake Forest and Pitt weren't impressive wins . We had chances in the big games against top teams like Clemson and Stanford and came up short . As far as the Ohio State game , we couldn't make the big plays on offense .

Yet , Kelly and ND have been in the conversation in 2012 ,2015 . The recruiting is picking up for both 2017 and 2018. Just hope we land a few more difference makers on defense . Mustipher's brother would be a big get in 2018 .

I wonder if Richt explained to his new team, in the simplest terms, why the Canes wild play against Duke was not a TD. I would love to be in the team meeting for that topic as he looks across the room at blank stares.

Which of those 3 years did MSU have one?

Or, what was the last year the MSU had a higher ranked recruiting class than ND?

for me personally i prefer dantonio because i prefer his style of coaching and philosophies. that said i believe both he and kelly are both very good and perfect fits for their respective programs.

Today?

well, stability continuity are import in developing organizations and player development.
and in 2 yrs under Kelly it would be an experienced in house promotion: Sanford.

Ya Gotta like Kelly in answer to the OP.

Apols to the OP, but I really don't get it, we are bout a month from the season opener, and we could be discussing the 'team' instead of beating the dead horse again.

ND has a coach for 2016, for sure. So why?

Dantonio is a really good coach...but I think BK is better for ND.

Here where you mention 'uptick in recruiting'

Again. Where did he have a top 3 recruiting class?

There was a vote by college coaches on who exactly they would want their son to play for. Bob Stoops and Mark Richt tied for first. Other high vote getters were David Shaw, Jerry Kill, Fitz, and Cutcliffe. Our own BK and Saban were nowhere to be found among those receiving votes. Interpret this vote any way you like. I don't think it means much of anything.

So he was talking about recruiting. You replied to his post about recruiting. And spoke on a completely different issue?

That is how a 14 year old girl argues.

Not sure you are old enough to talk like that yet.

I wonder how Dantonio would do if given the advantages of Notre Dame. I think he's a better football coach than Kelly from an X's and O's standpoint and from a motivational standpoint. I look at what he did with MSU last year at Columbus. That team went into Ohio State without Connor Cook and managed to defeat the Buckeyes using two quarterbacks. I'm not sure Kelly could do the same given the same situation.

So you were replying about recruiting? By not talking about recruiting?

Or you replied to his comment about recruiting, by talking about recruiting, and don't want to answer the question I posed?

Either way I get it.

Your goal was to be an asshat. We get that. But at least try to take a midol before you post and stay on topic.

I replied to kelso about his take on porky's recruiting. You then replied like you most likely have been smoking crack.... Again, you just aren't very intelligent. It's okay.
PS I can't think of a coach that has done less with more these past 6 years than dopey....

Dantonio on Saturday, Kelly Monday through Friday. By Sunday everyone is exhausted.

Look at what each done at UC coach Kelly did a better job though many believe coach Dantonio set him up for success. Coach Dantonio has had more success on the big stage @ MSU though while coach Kelly's hands are tied due to admission restrictions @ ND

I can. But since Weis was your preferred coach let's not get too far down that road. Never every coach can be awesome in your book while going 3-9
