USC has announced the hiring of Zaire Turner as its assistant athletic director of recruiting operations. Turner was Notre Dame's director of player personnel last season after two seasons as an analyst in recruiting operations. Turner is believed to be the second-ever female to hold the the title of director of player personnel in college football.
Turner did a lot of work behind the scenes with admissions and logistics in addition to helping with recruiting relationships. She's one of the staffers Notre Dame sent on the road recruiting earlier this month when the coaching staff was busy with its playoff run.
Bowden also brought another familiar face with him to USC: Dre Brown. Brown worked in a few different recruiting roles at Notre Dame from 2021-24 before he went to Illinois to be its director of player personnel prior to the 2024 season. Brown is now USC's executive director of scouting and personnel.
Much of Notre Dame's recruiting and scouting staff from last year are still with the Irish: director of recruiting Caleb Davis, director of scouting Matt Jansen, assistant to the general manager Carter Auman, coordinator of on-campus recruiting Becca Sites and analyst for high school relations Deland McCullough II.
It remains to be seen how/if Notre Dame will restructure when it hires a new general manager. We reported ND's interest in Texas Tech's James Blanchard yesterday, but it's not a done deal, according to our sources.
