Quinn Ewers

You're just throwing out every nonsense rumor that is out there
except just videos this week show carr standing behind qbs during some throwing drills. Yes there is video of him making throws too. I sure hope he's healthy, but he's not slinging it around like crazy right now, that's obvious.

You seem to be the obtuse one, believing everything you read on the Internet. Keep posting your drivel, you're showing your stupidity.
ha ha ha. What a moron you are.

Literally every program is using back channels to go after kids and try to get them to enter the portal and go to their school. Freeman isn't calling kids before the enter the portal, but be sure, he has people contacting players representatives before they enter the portal.

Tell me the process of ND landing Fields?

James Franklin was quoted talking about Beau Pribula having to enter the portal because a lot of schools wanted him to make visits, and he needed to quickly do that. How did schools want him to take visits before he entered the portal?

People, stop being stupid, this is slimy crap being played with players and the portal right now, ND is playing the game.

And teams are paying players directly as well. That doesn't mean ND is doing it. You're an idiot. You've posted a bunch of gibberish about the portal, and carr, and haven't sited a single source. You're a complete moron!

Lets just get this on record.

You, NDinNJ believe there are no people with ties to ND (like ND's NIL program) contacting players before they enter the portal?

Also, how did we land Fields? Why won't you answer?

CJ Carr. Here you go, he's not at 100%, he's still only in week 5 of a throwing program, throwing 3 times per week. He's got a ways to go. Maybe he's ready by spring, maybe not. I would guess the staff takes it easy on him and doesn't have him going all out spring. JUST LIKE I REPORTED.

Jesus, you too. You think teams are only making offers to players in the portal? Come on man. ND made offers to multiple qbs over the last 1-2 months. Freeman probably had a feeling or knew it wasn't looking good for one of them, and he made his comments.

Offers going out are what is making kids enter the portal! It's not, enter the portal, and then start getting offers.

Everyone knew we were landing fields before he even entered the portal.
We didn't offer any QBs.

Next you'll be saying Carr is made of glass, like you did with Riley Leonard. 😂

Minchey had all season to overtake Angeli and couldn't do it, and yet here you are calling for Minchey over Angeli like you know something the coaching staff doesn't. If Carr is healthy, he and Angeli will be vying for the starting role. there's a good chance Minchey will be the odd man out and transfer out come spring unless he makes significant strides.

Be prepared to be disappointed at the qb position next season.
I don't think there was this mid-season rolling competition to determine who the #2 QB is.

Once the season got rolling, it was about Saturdays and navigating the schedule. It's not about middle of the depth chart adjustments. The back ups aren't even getting reps....

" WE" ? Self appointed member of the program now too ? ND did not formally offer any QBs. They most definitely kicked the tires on a few to gauge their interest. I was told that weeks ago. Always looking for depth.

Yes they kicked the tires on depth QBs. They didn't offer anyone. And the players they were looking at were depth pieces. Not to come in and be the guy. Backup types

So like I said, no QB was offered

It's pretty likely that Ewers would be an upgrade over what we have at QB next season. How big an upgrade is debateable.
It could be a situation where Ewers is a better short term (1 season) bandaid but could cause some young kids to transfer, which would hurt us long term.

Personally I’d be on with a 1 season setback to get Carr or Minchey experience. This is what we did with Quinn & Clausen both who excelled in the later end of their careers after gaining experience.

I worry if we continue taking transfer QB’s it’ll also hurt recruiting that position as young players will be worried that it’ll be hard to move up the depth chart with new older players always transferring in each year.

I understand this is the new world of college football, and some of our transfers have been very beneficial, but I’m assuming there has to be a negative effect as well.

These are part of the reasons we are not taking a QB in the portal. Not a starting level QB. We would take a depth piece if someone transfers

None were offered because none were interested in being a depth piece. The bottom line is that portal QBs were " vetted" so to speak. ND did not dismiss the idea. I fully expect them to pursue one in May as I believe there will be some movement in the room.

It’s December.

The season does not start for 8 months.

I never said Riley was made of glass. I was big on riley coming to ND, and was one saying his injury was worse due to him trying to come back to fast.

With that said, Riley's passing is worse than I expected.

if your claiming some "official" offer, i'll agree with you. But there were $ figures thrown out to QBs in the millions. There's too much smoke around ewers, milroe, and klubnik not to be one or more of them.

A 'depth piece', you mean a backup? Depth piece of course is the slick new euphemism for 'backup'. Especially at QB where they don't even rotate. But we need a depth piece if we have transfers in the spring after everything shakes out.

Yeah the players they were going after were depth guys. Not brought in to be in contention to start. Not big names

Like I said, they made no offers

I just mean adding if there is a subtraction. I don't think you can go into 2025 with just 3 and one being a true freshman.

ND hypothetical back channel contact with X qb. “We really like our qb room, but we are interested in getting a seasoned qb to come in and compete and provide us added depth. There could be $1M in NIL for the right guy. Interested?” QB: no!

In Nasty’s eyes, ND offered this qb via back channels and they weren’t interested. In Golson’s eye, no official offer was ever made to a qb. Both right? Who cares about semantics and nuance? I seriously doubt ND remains 100% committed to our qb room for next year if they have serious reservations about Carr’s throwing arm. By all accounts his rehab is progressing well and on schedule. Reservations three weeks ago might be confidence today. I think we are standing pat.

The staff probably wasn't even considering Carr as the starter next season even prior to the injury. It was going to be an open competition. Carr is no Trevor Lawrence which is the type of talent that's required to start as a freshman. The speed alone at the college level from HS is a significant difference. Not to mention the defensive schemes and looks that are presented. Most can't simply adjust to the college level in a year.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the amount of NIL money Dillon Gabriel received since you seem to be enamored with the income of others.
I have no clue what anyone makes in NIL. Most of the figures IMO are false.

I totally agree. Depending on who might transfer out, we could use a credible backup from the portal for sure. I was just remarking how the new term 'depth piece' is now like, firmly established in the football lexicon. Differing slightly from its sister term, 'rotational piece'.

I don’t think they tried to get a backup qb, I think they swung for the fences. Meaning, we like our qb room but are willing to bring in a transfer if it’s a proven top qb in the country. Milroe, ewers, klubnik type.

Just read an article on yahoo about Gabe Rubio returning next season.
Don’t see anything on the TIL. Confirming.
Did you guys hear anything ?

They are, but it's highly unlikely he's going to win the starting job. I doubt he's going be the starter game 1

He has as good or slightly better chance than anyone on the roster.

Experience might be the biggest factor for game 1, maybe, but how long would Angeli be able hold on to that job? My guess is not very long

If you had to make odds on who starts the most games next year what would it be

Mine would be

Carr
Angeli
Minchey

I would be surprised if Carr doesn't start the most games next year and would have Minchey 3rd only because I think he is most likely to transfer

I would agree, but I'm just saying to start the season it's doubtful Carr starts. Depending on how Angeli plays he may hold onto it for the season. It's definitely going to be interesting and exciting to finally have a recruited and developed QB leading the offense.

Get a grip, big man. I was merely expressing an opinion. Nowhere did I state or imply that I know more than the coaching staff, because I most assuredly do not. I realize you love Angeli because he is a fellow Jersey boy, but in the limited sample size we have I simply do not see him as a big time QB. A competent backup, yes, but IMO he is not going to win games with his arm or his legs. If ND wants to compete with the elite, it needs an elite QB, and IMO Angeli is not that guy. If you hold a different opinion, that's ok with me.

"Some talk of him transferring to ND"

That might be the funniest thing I have heard all year!
Just relaying what the media is putting out there. I get more breaking news about ND from everywhere BUT this site.
What do you bring to this board ?
Snarky comments ?
