Ha… we went after multiple. Literally every reporter and insider is stating itWe didn't go after any QBs. That is not true

No they are not.Ha… we went after multiple. Literally every reporter and insider is stating it
Minchey had all season to overtake Angeli and couldn't do it, and yet here you are calling for Minchey over Angeli like you know something the coaching staff doesn't. If Carr is healthy, he and Angeli will be vying for the starting role. there's a good chance Minchey will be the odd man out and transfer out come spring unless he makes significant strides.I hope ND is not seriously considering picking up Ewers. Freeman recently said there is no plan to go to the portal this year for a QB; I hope that hasn't changed. Ewers is overrated in my eyes. Not big or particularly mobile. Doesn't have a particularly strong arm. Slow to process the field, though he usually makes good decisions. UT fans are mostly clamoring for Arch Manning, though some of that may be the shiny new toy syndrome. It is a near certainty that Manning will start next year, so Ewers will either be playing somewhere else or holding a clipboard in the NFL. There is no way Ewers will go in the first round of the NFL draft, IMO. He can probably make more NIL money than he will get in the NFL next year.
I am a little concerned about CJ Carr's elbow injury. I read he fractured his right elbow during a practice in September and hasn't done much throwing since then. I suppose a fracture is better than a UCL injury, but I don't know enough about elbow fractures to know whether the injury will be a long-term concern. While I like Steve Angeli, he doesn't move the needle for me. Either Carr or Minchey will have to be the man next year.
At Miami. Game 1. Going with a redshirt freshman QB with zero CFB game experience will make many fans a tad nervous.Minchey had all season to overtake Angeli and couldn't do it, and yet here you are calling for Minchey over Angeli like you know something the coaching staff doesn't. Be prepared to be disappointed at the qb position next season.
Correct, because we missed on the ones we wantedNo they are not.
We aren't taking a Portal qb this year
Thank You for not mentioning Bryan Driskell.Correct, because we missed on the ones we wanted
Loy, Sampson, etc…said we made contact and offers to qbs, but will not be taking one. Writing on the wall, we didn’t land a big fish.
I don’t know if we offered ewers, but we offered multiple big time wins and they most likely declined, so the staff has elected to move forward with who we have, hence freeman’s words.I hope ND is not seriously considering picking up Ewers. Simply dart throwing and speculation.I don’t know if we offered ewers, but we offered multiple big time wins and they most likely declined, so the staff has elected to move forward with who we have, hence freeman’s words.
“…rumors…”There are rumors that Carr won’t be full go for spring even, and his family is ok with not starting next year. That leaves it a 2 way battle if true
If they took a portal QB for next year, both Angeli and Minchey would be gone. The QB room would be back to square zero with maybe better talent than that of Buchner and Pyne. Why would the staff risk the defection of more than half the QB room to bring in another rental.Correct, because we missed on the ones we wanted
Loy, Sampson, etc…said we made contact and offers to qbs, but will not be taking one. Writing on the wall, we didn’t land a big fish.
Why? Because you could argue that a certain rental is better than any 2025 QB they currently have.If they took a portal QB for next year, both Angeli and Minchey would be gone. We don't know, but the coaches should. That's their job to coach and develop. Keep taking QB rentals and no elite QB is going to think about coming to ND out of HS.Why? Because you could argue that a certain rental is better than any 2025 QB they currently have.
We don’t know if the 2025 QB room has a QB that is a title starting QB. It’s unknown.
Joe Burrow.
He can make more throws than AR can thoughCJ Carr may not be ready with his elbow but I still wouldn't want Quinn Ewers, he's not mobile enough.
I'd prefer to believe the words of the head coach than some supposed insiders. It’s not happening because we missed on the portal qbs (whomever they are) that nd went after. That is what the insiders are reporting
NDWe don't know, but the coaches should. That's their job to coach and develop. Keep taking QB rentals and no elite QB is going to think about coming to ND out of HS.
Let me ask you, how many 1 year QB rentals in the past 10-15 years have won a national championship with the team they transferred to?
What else is Marcus Freeman supposed to say in December?I'd prefer to believe the words of the head coach than some supposed insiders.
ok just in the past 4 years? ZERO transfer QB's have won the NC. That's as recent as you can get.ND
The transfer portal rules today are far different than 10-15 years ago.
Transfer portal is closed in JanuaryWhat else is Marcus Freeman supposed to say in December?
Plans could change on January.
Huge difference between throwing a few passes vs fully healthy and letting it rip“…rumors…”
Meanwhile, it was reported that CJ Carr has been practicing in New Orleans and was seen throwing footballs well at practice.
Literally every news outlet and insider has stated we’ve made multiple offers to qbs months ago, and they didn’t land. So as Marcus says, they currently have no plans for a portal qb. Not the case a month or two ago.I'd prefer to believe the words of the head coach than some supposed insiders.
Months ago? That would mean ND was violating tampering rules. I highly doubt ND would resort to breaking NCAA tampering rules.Literally every news outlet and insider has stated we’ve made multiple offers to qbs months ago, and they didn’t land. It’s December. 8 months before game 1 in 2025.Huge difference between throwing a few passes vs fully healthy and letting it rip
100s of times a day every day
Ask 13-0 Oregon if Dillon Gabriel has been a net positive.ok just in the past 4 years? ZERO transfer QB's have won the NC. That's as recent as you can get.
Have they won anything yet? Have they won a NC?Ask 13-0 Oregon if Dillon Gabriel has been a net positive.
Who gives a shit.Have they won anything yet? Have they won a NC?
Again, my question was how many 1 year rental QB's have won the NC on the team they transferred to? In the last 4 years, it's ZERO!Who gives a shit.
If Dillon Gabriel isn’t at Oregon they are 9-3.
You have to make the playoff to win the playoff.
Probably the most logical solution. It keeps angelli from transferring and lets Carr develop. The o line should be better next season also. Besides the dual threat aspect we can be a very balanced attack . What’s the incoming freshman look like ?Angeli will likely start the year and ND will go from there
Incorrect. No offers were made.Correct, because we missed on the ones we wanted
Loy, Sampson, etc…said we made contact and offers to qbs, but will not be taking one. Writing on the wall, we didn’t land a big fish.
You're just throwing out every nonsense rumor that is out thereThere are rumors that Carr won’t be full go for spring even, and his family is ok with not starting next year. That leaves it a 2 way battle if true
Incorrect. Just because you are saying that doesn't make it trueLiterally every news outlet and insider has stated we’ve made multiple offers to qbs months ago, and they didn’t land. So as Marcus says, they currently have no plans for a portal qb. Not the case a month or two ago.
Stop. Don't be so obtuse as to how this works. How did ND land Malachi fields just days after he entered the portal?Months ago? That would mean ND was violating tampering rules. I highly doubt ND would resort to breaking NCAA tampering rules.
Jesus, you too. You think teams are only making offers to players in the portal? Come on man. ND made offers to multiple qbs over the last 1-2 months. Freeman probably had a feeling or knew it wasn't looking good for one of them, and he made his comments.Incorrect. No offers were made.
There are no big fish that was in the portal
You seem to be the obtuse one, believing everything you read on the Internet. Keep posting your drivel, you're showing your stupidity.Stop. Don't be so obtuse as to how this works. How did ND land Malachi fields just days after he entered the portal?
There is a ton of back channel work and offers going on with every team.
