OT Muhammad Ali

He is the most influential sportsperson of all time and one of the most influential people of the 20th century. The world had never seen anyone like him before and there's never been anyone like him since. RIP GOAT.

Sad to see what damage all those punches did to him. He was a master of pretending to be hurt when he was hurt in the ring. Still enjoy watching his fights to this day. RIP.

Muhammad Ali had more integrity and honor in one little finger riddled with Parkinons than Tump has in his whole mind and body!

He was the quickest heavyweight fighter I've ever seen in the ring. I haven't watched a boxing match since his final retirement. He was a great champion and a courageous man. I'll miss him a lot.

"Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee; your fist can't hit what your eyes can't see. Now you see me and now you don't--you think you'll hit me, but I know you won't!" Muhammad Ali

RIP Muhammad Ali

did anyone see that clip, where Ali was on the ropes and his opponent was throwing punches (50 or more), Ali had his hands at his sides and not a single punch landed!

As a fighter yes he was great but I have serious issue giving praise to a man that would not fight for his country when called upon. For all the fallen men and men suffering from PTSD from the Vietnam Era it's very disprectful. I can't believe that a stand of that nature is praised. Because of all the other men who we r drafted not named Cassius Clay fought and died for each one of us. I understand he used his platform in a postive manner but somethings are a sense of duty.

There were may objectors to this "war" but he didn't cut and run like many did, he stayed and took his medicine. Not phony BS with Ali!

Two of my heroes--Muhammad Ali and Donald Trump. Both not afraid of telling it like it is.

RIP... Muhammad..
except ali was a genuine great human being. trump is no more than a boorish buffoon who is no more of a republican than i am. he took the path of least resistance. a used car salesman. the absolute worst slate of candidates in my lifetime.

Did not Ali call white people "blued eyed devils"? Did not Ali promote the idea of a separate nation? Did not Ali belong to a religious sect (Nation of Islam) that hates Jews, whites, and America? Did not Ali move to Chicago so he can be near Louis Farakan, who hates Jews, whites, and America? Did not Ali call Joe Frazier racist names during their rivalry together? Did not Ali only speak up against the war only after he was drafted? Liston phantom punch that may or may not be. The grandfatherly picture of Ali is not the whole picture of this man but it's the only part that will be reported. He was never someone I looked up to , especially when there are so many more worthy working class heroes coming out of everyday life who did their job, took care of their families, and kept their mouths shut about it.

Yeah, well he had the money and lawyers to buy his way out of the draft while me and a whole lot of others (some now deceased) did not. He was a boxer that made a lot of money. I boxed a little in the army and watched Ali on TV. He was a good boxer, I'll give him that. Boxing is a craft and there are a lot of tricks to the trade. He excelled at knowing when to take his shots.

Agree with everything you posted. So who you pickin? An integrity void pathological liar who is a serial criminal hell bent on destroying this country and with a life littered with dead bodies throughout it or a boorish buffoon billionaire who wants to make America great again?

If I have to choose it's a pretty easy decision in my eyes. We know what we are getting with one. The other is a roll of the dice. I'll take my chances with the unknown. It can't get worse than it's already been for almost 8 years.

Scotchbloodirish may have reached a new low in th above comments. Duo, cgvr, scotchbloodirish and th late Mole.

3rd party ?

Echo, this clown has no 3rd party verification, he is just Trumpeting (pun intended) the same lies of Trump and the others who can't win fairly so have to lie about Clinton. He fact that virtually every aspect of American life is improved over where it was eight years ago seems lost on these losers.

Please note, I am no fan of Hillary, based on her actual reality, but the fact that her opponents resort to,tales about murders and more that have been totally disputed speaks volumes as to their lack of no credibility. I can think of no bigger liar or fraud than the Trump we see today!

There is so much Hillary goodness to go around. I can't decide if I like the Cubs fan Hillary, the Yankees fan Hillary, the black dialect Hillary, the southern dialect Hillary, the Hispanic Hillary, the dog barking Hillary, or the screeching voice Hillary. What difference does it make? It's all pure joy.

Hey Toby, you like Trump? An outright bigot is far better than a lifelong contributor to America! You are a real genius!

I suppose because you spread these lies about HC som one will now believe them? As bad as she is, Trump would be worse than George W. In most every way and that is a really low bar.

He will be missed.

You know a lot about spreading lies!

Somehow I knew clicking on this thread it was going to be a cluster...

The great thing about Ali was that he did things others couldn't do, he told you he was going to do them before he did them, told you about what he did after he did it and never apologized for being who he was.

Didn't vote for Bush. But he's a breath of fresh air compared to America's worst President (Obama). Another pathological liar and incompetent.

Don't care for Trump. Not in my top five of the Republican candidates. But compared to Hillary it's not close. Hillary is just another Obama but worse (if that's remotely possible). A criminal and a pathological liar. There's no refuting that reality unless you've been shut up in your basement without access to the real world for the past 7.5 years.

I did not vote for Trump in the Indiana primary. I'm lost when it comes to the general and I do not believe a third party candidate in any party is the way to go. I don't blame the candidates. I blame the clueless, ill informed, reality TV watching voters who vote these people in year after year. Heck, in Lake County, Indiana, we've had jailed and indicted candidates win. Voters complain about the roads, garbage pick up, snow removal, crime, wasteful spending and lack of jobs but they keep voting in the same people and party in year after year. I don't blame Trump or Hillary. They are what they are. I blame the voters who demand nothing better.

You are just a sheeple that can't stand someone who is not PC. America is turning into a lawless society with no middle class. Stopping illegal immigration and making better trade deals and trying to bring jobs back into this country are what Trump is trying to do.

Who cares if he is a republican democrat or not ? It is the issues I care about.. America is fading fast and we need to get it jumpstarted,

Yes, in his younger days Ali joined the Nation of Islam and adopted the teachings of their leader, Elijah Muhammad. Among those teachings were a belief in segregation and that white people were blue eyed devils, but, valid or not, those beliefs didn't come out of nowhere. Blacks were treated very poorly by whites at that time, especially in the South where Ali grew up. Even so, despite his early beliefs Ali also said, "he didn't hate anybody." He mostly rejected the culture that relegated blacks as 2nd class citizens and worse. The Nation of Islam was a social and cultural movement as much as it was a religious sect. It evolved, as most cultural movements do, and Ali evolved with it although not as quickly as he himself had wished. When Ali's close friend Malcolm X, the Nation of Islam's most charismatic leader, had a spiritual awakening and began to reject some of the divisive teachings of Elijah Muhammad, Ali turned his back on X. Ali would later say his rejection of Malcolm X was one of his biggest regrets in life. Some time later the new leader of the Nation of Islam, Elijah Muhammad's son, came to the same realization as Malcolm X and converted the entire sect to the Sunni form of Islam which is an orthodox form of Islam that welcomes all people of all races. The original Nation of Islam dissolved and changed it's name to American Society of Muslims. Ali converted to Sunni along with most other members and for most of his adult life he has preached love and acceptance for all.

You seem to be conflating the Nation of Islam that Ali was part of with the Nation of Islam that Louis Farrakhan took over. They were not the same thing, and no, Ali never followed the teachings of Farrakhan. When the original Nation of Islam switched to the American Society of Muslims, Louis Farrakhan was able to convince a minority of followers to separate and follow him. He kept the "Nation of Islam" name but his brand of the sect was much more divisive and corrosive than anything the original Nation of Islam stood for. Ali never followed Farrakhan and had, in fact, publicly repudiated him when he made some of his most hateful comments.

Ali may not have been someone you looked up to but, based on your comments, your view of him seems to be based on misinformation and a lack of context. Maybe that's OK. Everyone has a right to their own opinion even if it is misinformed, but you decided to express your misinformed opinion in a thread that was intended to honor a person who had just died. You've helped derail this thread into a corrosive political discussion. Some of us who admired Ali for being a great athlete, for standing up for what he believed in, and for being a tremendous ambassador to the world think he deserves a better eulogy than you and others are now trying to give him, as if this is the time and place for you to tell all of us who the "real" Ali was. This isn't the time or place and I really don' t think you have any idea who the real Ali was.

Questions Barbara Walters Won't Ask Hillary

The ABC News promotional spots for Barbara Walters' upcoming interview with Hillary Clinton about her soon-to-be-released book, "Living History," promise a no-holds-barred session where "nothing's off limits."

Pardon us if we suspect that Walters' sit-down with the scandal-scarred New York senator will turn out to be a whole lot tamer than advertised, especially after the way Walters herself waved off Sexgate queries during Thursday's chatfest about Clinton's book on "The View."

According to the Media Research Center, the moment co-host Joy Behar mentioned Monica Lewinsky, "an annoyed Walters raised her hands, made a pained facial expression and said: 'Oh, let's drop it, let's move on!'"

Of course, if the talk TV doyenne really wants to conduct a no-holds-barred session with Hillary, there's a virtual library of pertinent material the former first lady has never addressed.

How about asking Hillary a few of these questions, Ms. Walters?

 Do you believe Juanita Broaddrick's allegation that your husband raped her?

 White House lawyers have acknowledged in court documents that you approved efforts to trash Kathleen Willey, who accused your husband of sexually molesting her in the White House. Is that true?

 At an August 1992 American Bar Association convention, you praised Anita Hill, saying, "As women and lawyers, we must never again shy away from raising our voices against sexual harassment." Why didn't you raise your voice to help Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broaddrick?

 Author Gail Sheehy, who's generally supportive of you, says in her book "Hillary's Choice" that it was your idea to hire San Francisco private detective Jack Palladino to mount "a sub-rosa, black arts campaign against the women." Is that true?

 In her book "The Final Days," the late Barbara Olson said your husband's pardon of the Puerto Rican separatist FALN bombers encouraged terrorists like Osama bin Laden. Was she wrong?

 Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Elizabeth Ward Gracen and Juanita Broaddrick have two things in common. They all accused your husband of sexual impropriety and they were all audited by the IRS, which was run until late 1997 by your good friend Margaret Milner Richardson. If four of Richard Nixon's chief accusers were audited by his IRS, what would you have said?

 Your brother-in-law Roger Clinton can be heard on an Arkansas State Police surveillance video repeatedly using the "N" word. Why have you and your husband never condemned Roger's outburst?

 If you're not running for president in 2004, why do you keep showing up at all these presidential candidate forums?

 How could a smart woman like yourself really believe that your husband, with his history of cheating, was telling the truth when he told you he didn't have sex with Monica Lewinsky?

 On the night of your good friend Vince Foster's death, White House phone records show that you called Harry Thomason, Maggie Williams, Susan Thomases and Bernard Nussbaum. But there was no phone call to Foster's grieving widow, Lisa. Why not?

 Why have you never apologized to Westchester County police officer Ernest Dymond, who was injured so badly he couldn't return to duty for weeks after a driver rushing you to an Oct. 14, 2001, fund raiser sped through the airport checkpoint he was manning?

 Minutes before you accepted the nomination of your party to run for Senate at Albany's Pepsi Arena three years ago, some of your supporters spit on a state police honor guard carrying an American flag. You and then-state party chairwoman Judith Hope promised an investigation to ferret out the guilty parties. What was the result of your investigation and how were the cop spitters punished?

 Four witnesses have accused you of using anti-Semitic slurs, which you've denied. And Dick Morris - who is Jewish by birth - said that you once responded to his request for a raise by saying, "Is that all you people think about is money?" - a charge you've never addressed. As a laywer, if you had a client who was contradicted by five witnesses, who would you tend to believe?

 In 1989, the NAACP in Arkansas sued your husband and other state officials for intimidating black voters at the polls. And other reports say that then-Gov. Clinton supported racially profiling Hispanic drug suspects during the 1980s. Why didn't you do anything to stop these practices?

 You've worked closely on a number of issues with Sen. Robert Byrd, who's now ranking member on the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee. As you know, he's a former Ku Klux Klansman who used the "N" word on TV as recently as two years ago. What would you say if Republicans allowed an ex-Klansman who uses the "N" word to continue in a leadership post?

 Do you agree with your husband that oral sex isn't really sex?

If, and that's a big IF, Epic or Big (I apologize for the redundancy) does respond you know he's going to simply claim "all lies" you are just perpetuating.

I find the hypocrisy of supporting an obvious rapist enabler (Hillary) with no qualms while attacking others for alleged rape where there is no proof of such conduct very strange.
