They haven't beaten 1 good team and have looked bad in many games. The first good team they play Michigan St., at home, they lose and that is with Sparty having to play its back up QB's.

The fact we dropped doesn't surprise me because we have played poorly the past few weeks but if nothing else you can argue we have been decimated by injuries. I recall last year the excuse for Ohio St. losing to VT was that they had to start a backup QB but I guess for ND we don't get a BIG10 biased pass. Also I watched ESPN all season listening to that tool Joey Galloway say Ohio St. deserved to be ranked 1st and then 2nd, before they lost, because they won it all last year. How does that make any sense?

Oh well, I knew it would come down to having to play a strong Stanford team for us and I don't know if we can win this one but I have hope. Maybe the drop in rankings is what our kids needed to play better? If not we have won 10 games with backups all over the field and the coaches have done a great job.

I totally agree that tOSU was overrated most of the year, but they didn't lose a game after winning a national championship until MSU.

You can't gripe about unfairly getting dropped despite winning as a ND fan and overlook Ohio State's rankings.

First, I didn't say we unfairly got dropped. Second, how does last year have anything to do with this season? The whole point of this was to get rid of the BCS crap which was exactly what you just pointed out. The fact is that Ohio St. hasn't beaten 1 top team and lost to the only team they played. Oh and if you are going to say they deserved to be ranked so high because of last years title, then how can you justify them still being so high now?

if MSU missed the FG then tOSU would be #3!

Pers I was thinking the same thing yesterday, but just not for ND. Would a team that was undefeated (that seems to be the claim to fame for Iowa) but won all their games by 3 points would they be in?

And I also agree that LAST year should have nothing to do with this year.

That was my main gripe about this committee for the fact they were definitely placing Ohio St. in the top 4 based on last year. Now instead of dropping them out of the top 10 the committee is still giving them a shot at getting back in if several teams lose and we all know that is a possibility with tough games coming up.

To me the whole point of having a playoff, though this is still pathetic and should be 8-16 teams, was to get rid of stupid voters deciding things yet here we are back at it again. Also remember that the playoff committee can adjust a teams chances by placing their opponents higher in the rankings.

Hey I am not saying Ohio isn't a good team, they have a lot of talent and you would think they would be up there, but they haven't played great all season and that is against a poor schedule. I mean just go by the facts and do a blind test... strength of schedule 61st, best win 20-13 vs 8-4 Northern Illinois that just lost to Ohio U., wins against top 30 opponents 0, and the best stat to me is number of opponents that have winning records is 3 out of 11 and they lost to one in Sparty at home with Michigan St.'s backup QB. Sorry but if they weren't Ohio St., they wouldn't be in the top 10 and these numbers prove it.

champions should get the benefit of doubt and should lose the title on the field. That was probably the mindset of the committee re tOSU. I agreed with that. Now tOSU is no longer a bene of that premise.

ND is a play away from undefeated; and MSU is closer to being a 2 lose team than ND is to being 12-0
the committee needs to think on that!

I try not to listen or watch any of the eSECpn college football shows, but I am on vacation this week and have a tendency to run the dial.

Anyway I was listening to one of the shows and they said that the committee looks at how a team will perform in the future i.e. OU. WHAT? Is this committee made up of pre cogs? If so screw the poll and start giving out lottery numbers. How can you tell how a team will perform in the future?
