Notre Dame @ Stanford 1pm PT Official Game Discussion Thread

Hopefully we can stop Stanford in this last minute and go into the locker with the lead ! That blocked kick was hugh ! It really changed the momentum. One more stop !

Brando has been ragging on ND all year. Can’t wait to hear him call the rest of the game as we pull away. Let’s go boys.

And yet ND leads at the half. Don't quit your day job.

Lol playcalling is always terrible in the minds of the people on this board. No mentioned of the fact that there are receivers running wide open everywhere on the field, Ian Book throwing 3 touchdowns in the first half, and Tony Jones having quality rushing opportunities despite a horrible offensive line.

Fire Chip. He's horrible... lol ridiculous.

He has a shoulder that needs surgery. He's been playing through it all year for his team and for his own draft position.
Some run off when sore he goes
Down... I hate it but it is what it is.... this has been going on for 3 years

We have to score when we get the second half kickoff ! I am looking for a big adjustment by our D as well
To slow down Stanford’s passing game!

I’m not a Long fan, but the screen pass design on the opening TD was very good.

“Against 4 win Stanford”. Against any defense that isn’t high school level he’s been horrible.

Some people just don't understand football.

All we hear is that “Finke only fair catches,” “the special teams never make a play like they did under Lou,” “where are the attentions to details?” etc. Now, they just made a play in a game we were being co pletely outplayed in, turned the momentum and even if the team wins, it will be criticized.

We deserved a blowout win over VT, but a fluke play turned the game into a dogfight even though we doubled the Hokies up in yards and first downs. Now, the luck went the other way. Win this, get 10 wins, winnthe bowl game, gear up for next season.

Go, Irish!

Not true. If you want to link the Georgia game I'll show you wide open receivers all over the field. He schemed that game really well. Same thing as Virginia Tech earlier this year. Excellent scheme, terrible execution.

Yup. It’s akin to a basketball game in which a team generates wide open threes, but doesn’t make them. The separation was there all game, but Book missed them.

Also, this slop they’re playing on is a far cry from the perfect synthetic fields most teams play on now, and it has somewhat neutralized our athletic/speed/talent advantage.

When you don't put bad teams away what does it say about the quality of your own football team/program?

There's no such thing as "playing down to the level of competition" you are either good enough to beat your opponent or you are not. You are either good enough to dominate your opponent or you are not.

This cliche that ND fans/media loves to use needs to cease to exist. It makes no sense whatsoever and it falsely suggests that ND is better than their performance when they are hanging tight with another mediocre/poor P5 opponent.

Respectfully disagree.

You may not like the term or believe in it...so be it! I really don;t think ND fans will stop using this term.

And although Kelly has been the Poster Boy for doing so over much of his 10 seasons at ND......Charlie Weis may have been the ultimate.

Remember 2008 - on ND SENIOR DAY? Syracuse had already fired HC Greg Robinson (he continued on as a Lame Duck Coach to finish out the season). Syracuse ended up w/ a 3-9 season record but 1 of those wins was against Charlie's unprepared ND squad. As bad as Weis' 7-6 team was - they were much better than Syracuse (but not on that day....ND played down to [or below] the level of the Orangemen) on Senior Day no less.

I sure wish the “light bulb” would go off for Jafar. He’s much more of a threat than Jones.
