It's whatever fits the cockroaches narrative....last year his deal was when ND was getting within a hoop of going to the FF, that Connaughton and Grant coached the team....he expected people to believe that 2 players could beat Williams, Coach K, and Pitino. As a bball guy I find that to be asinine...this year its the clipboard deal...man...the guy is a real tool. I can now see why my mentor had him on ignore...the dude is one effed-up human being.

ND's players really understand and buy in to Brey's system. When you have intelligent players with a good understanding of the system and the game, you don't have to give instructions about how to wipe their butts. If the criticism is consistent high level recruiting there could be an argument about Brey, but he does more with the talent he is given than most anyone. ND won't go for the one and dones - and I am glad they don't. This is a University after all.

Thanks Dillon...this has to be the post that gets the Grant/Atkins story about coming out of a timeout....that's my favorite and i bet it ahsn't been posted all year!!! I can't wait!!
Digger, who was thought of as a decent coach, took the first half of every time out and only talked to the coaches - not the players. The coaches would come up with the plan and then Digger would tell the team. Al McGuire let his assistants do the vast majority of the detailed coaching. A good coach with the right staff can run his team like a CEO.
You can have Pitino, Callipari, or any of the other narcissistic coaches out there. If I had a child who was D1 level, I would take Brey any day of the week.

Al McGuire was the king of no Xs and Os and he was a Hall of Fame coach. Great company for Brey.

Anyone who has watched Brey's teams for even a year ... let alone 16 years ..... knows he has a propensity for not knowing how to use his time outs .... a crutch he has never figured out or even cared to try to ..... Agreed ND has players who understand his system .... not hard to imagine because it never changes ... and everyone knows that the student/athlete at ND "tends" to be a little different
The 1st 2 games are perfect examples of Brey's inadequacy .... coming out of a TO in a one possession game .... he NEVER calls a play to try and get a high % shot .... EVER .... he says put the ball in DJ's hands and let him go one on one ... anybody and his mother can do that .... and it seems everyone now knows it ..... both games ended with DJ taking a FORCED low % shot that wasn't even close ... DJ doesn't ever look to kick it out .... because he isn't asked to .... both times ND was fortunate that the POOR shot was cleaned up and put back in by another player .... better lucky than good

Brey wasn't on it .... people who ARE in the business disagree with you ....

The article gave opinions not facts. You should read a book, any book, maybe "Tip and Mitten".
