Look...if ND beats unbeaten Miami by say 14 points and Alabama beats Mississippi State by 14 points does ND move ahead of Alabama?

We will see what Mississippi State is made of but they have two losses against the only two real teams they have played. This would be loss #3. Yes they beat LSU but LSU would lose to Wisconsin and we know they are not very good. I am actually shocked that the Bulldogs are ranked #16 and really have beaten nobody!

Thoughts?

Not sure how you can declare wisconsin not very good.

Their style of play doesn't promote huge points. They're perfectly content wunning 21-10.

On the Bama ranking...Should we be ahead? Yes. Will we? Not until war eagle destroys the tide

Wisconsin sucks. They are slow as hell ! Alabama would beat them 77 to 0 !!
Ohio State would beat them 59 to 0 !! 1950's football can only get you so far !
The playoff committee knows this and won't let them sniff the playoff even if they finish 13 and 0 !!

Alabama had their most success ..yes in recent years ..playing that 1950's as you call it style of football.

Bama has yet to win a national title under Saban with a dual threat spread QB.

Not one. Close, but no.

You can line up with any style of offense and if you execute well enough you can win.

We don't know if they are any good because they have played NOBODY.

No. Undefeated Bama will still stay #2. Wisconsin may not be elite but they would probably beat most teams in D1 by two TDs. That doesnt mean they are playing at the level of a top 4 team though.

Also saying Saban has never won with a dual-threat spread QB is silly. They went to the title game and almost won with Hurts as a redshirt freshmen last year against an all-timer college talent in Watson. I think Bamas offense is fine.

ND just needs to keep trucking. 2 or 3 in the polls still plays 2 or 3.

So Bama, having played nobody, yet ranked #2, beats somebody, and would then get dropped by the committee.

Sorry, just can't make that work.

It would take an Alabama loss for ND to move ahead of them..Georgia and Bama are 1-2 in the committees eyes until one of them loses, not even close.

No, Alabama isn't going behind is unless they lose. The committee is probably itching for Bama to beat MSU and Auburn so they can move them to #1. Then the eye test aligns with the votes.

No they will not drop below us ... why though, I have no idea. They've done nothing this year to warrant the #2 ranking they have now. The discussion I'm hearing by all the mouthpieces on ESPN is "eye test" vs "resume". What a stupid argument that is !!!! Of course you'll look good if you play no one. It should be all about resume, because that is what you did on the field against quality competition.

That wasn't the point. A post said Wisconsin could not win with their old 1950's offense. I merely pointed out that Saban ONLY has won national championships WITH that 1950's type of offense.

I wouldn't call Saban's offense 1950's. Its a pro style offense. It just isn't the popular read/option or B12 Air Raid offenses.

Saban's offenses tend to be a lot more simple than NFL offenses. He is run first, use play action pass, and don't make mistakes. He has a talent surplus and a great defense so that is usually enough to win games. It would not work in the NFL because the talent is more evenly distributed.

Not following along. ...

The poster said Wisconsin couldn't win with a 1950's offense.

If you follow football and familiar with Wisconsin their offense is very similar to the Bama offenses thst have won championships.

So you're right... I wouldn't call their offense 1950's either and if you do it well enough you can in fact win with that or any offense if run right.

It's a simple power I offense. Two recievers. One tight end. One full back.

Teams use that offense all the time. Every Sunday as a matter of fact.

Oh the computers can judge a resume objectively and return a hilarious answer. Bama is not getting worse at football just because LSU is embarrassing or Auburn has injuries. The eye test can be much better

Stop obsessing. Miami will be a handful. One day and one game at a time. Games are won on the battlefield.

Yeah, that may be the case.

If ND wins out then the predators hawking on a playoff spot will look no further than a one-loss SEC team. ND will not lose its spot but the loser of the SEC title game.

A one-loss Bama could be on the outside looking in.
