I wonder if the coaches saw something in Virginia’s kick return unit that led to that kick. That’s how you win championships right there. Well done if the case. Bummer for Tyree.
I thought Virginia was going to easily get 5 yards with that funky formation on second down. Nice play by Hinish.
Why does Raridon immediately grab on like that? Looks like garbage. Bummer with Williams there. He probably would have got it. Not mad bad about that though. Nice job on that series by Leonard.

This is the problem. When this offense gets into 2nd and 3rd and long, it's difficult for this offense to pickup the first, the offense just doesn't have that downfield threat. QB is inaccurate downfield and it hurts the offense on those possessions.
Riley Leonard is not a solid 3rd and long quarterback. His dual threat is diminished when 8 or more yards are needed...and his passing skills are limited downfield. UVA has figured out that pressuring him on 3rd down....especially a long 3rd down is fertile ground. On 3rd and short....his dual skills are productive....but on long....he is exposed. A pass first quarterback can salvage some of these situations....Leonard isn't one of them.
Yeah it hurts. But what hurts more is the line blocking and the wrs creating no seperation
This seems to happen every week:
- ND plays a shit opponent.
- Shit opponent hangs around for the first 2 quarters (looks like a back and forth 1-2 score type of game)
- Defense adjusts and suffocates opponent
- ND pulls away in the 2nd half with great field positions set up by the defense and a running game that eventually wears down the other team.
