This is a 50/50 game. And of SC loses tonight, we might be favored
Nooo. We need the top 10 win. It will be big for us.
We need a big USC victory today and then a big ND win next week. If that happens and a few other key teams lose ahead of us we can still slide into a NY6 bowl.
Good win for the Irish on a snowy Senior Day. They played well on O and D. Was surprised Angeli didn't get in at all, but maybe Rees didn't want to put him in in the snow; I don't know. On to USC!

Starting and making plays are two different events. Pyne is a QB-liability - that is my only point.
We can do significantly better. Pyne is probably a good dude, but he is not a good QB if you want your team competing for a NC.
We can definitely beat them. Look at their schedule, before today, they've played one ranked team and lost

The crazy thing is if the 12 team playoff was in effect now, ND would probably be in if they beat USC. They're probably going to be like ~14 this week considering how many teams above them have lost and beating them on the road in the last game of the year would put them in the top 12.
Yes and the CFB committee definitely puts weight on the narrative that ND is really a top 10 team given their talent and just needed to get used to a new coach and now they are back to playing at that level.
We played OSU tough (#2 team in the country) for 3 quarters and lost a couple of fluky 1-possession games to teams ND would probably steamroll 99 times out of 100.
Everybody else was handled about how you would expect an elite team to perform. ND for the first time in a long time, is starting to look like they pass the eye test too. It's an exciting time to be a fan, but I digress.
ND might get a really aggressive final season ranking with two more big victories (USC & Bowl opponent) to close out the season and if there's anything i've learned about recruiting it is that your final CFB ranking makes a really compelling argument with recruits -- especially those on the bubble who might need just a little more of a nudge -- down the stretch run of the recruiting cycle.

No they have one win over a ranked team, and that was last night. They lost to Utah the only other ranked team they've plsyed
The good thing is that while it is a big rivalry it has not been lately; and thus the current team members for USC might not think all that much of the game.
However the lure of making it to the playoffs might be the most important thing for USC.
We can hope for a letdown but I would not expect it.

They played 3ranked teams. We have 3 as well
More games played, more evidence you have of a teams actual ability.
Wins against BYU and Syr shouldnt be counted as 2 ranked wins. They arent that good
