Would love to see a Navy win. OU favored by -8.5 and lost their QB to the portal.

The SEC schools don’t play the academies it seems. I didn’t look at Army or Air Force, but Navy lost by 3 to South Carolina in 2011 and beat Missouri in 2009 when they were Big 12. Beat Vandy in 2003 and 2004.

Those are the most recent games.

This years Army would give this year LSU problems IMO.

much easier to prepare for option during bowl season, 3-4 weeks to practice .

Yes to a degree. In 2009, Navy lost 31-27 to Ohio State in week 1. That same year they beat 8-5 Missouri in the bowl game 35-14.

I’m just happy they get a chance to knock off an SEC team.

In a bowl game absolutely. Army always comes ready to play. Guessing LSU not overly excited to participate in a meaningless bowl game given their expectations at the start of the season.

Unfortunately, all bowl games are meaningless now. It's playoff or bust. With the sitting out for the draft and many players going into transfer portal it no longer means what it used to: one last chance to play as a team with your brothers and finish the season with your head held high. As a kid growing up, I absolutely loved bowl week, as there were many competitive games that were fun to watch. It was also a chance to watch some teams that don't normally show up on TV. Damn I miss those days.

Agreed. I did too. The money has changed everything across the board. That's the cold hard reality. That said I was in 4 bowl games. Only two of them got me excited. The Rose Bowl and the Aloha Bowl only because it was a chance to go to Hawaii for a week.

Love the rose bowl, and actually love that the playoffs make this and other major bowl games meaningful again. This year’s rose bowl will be Oregon against the winner of Ohio State and Tennessee. Sugar Bowl will be Georgia against the winner of ND and Indiana. And so on.

Just curious... why weren't you excited for the other 2 bowl games?

Not really, the season was disappointing and our expectations were much higher. Lower tier bowls are rough when you're hoping for much more. Gator wasn't bad in Florida. El Paso just didn't move the needle.
Echo, you may have stated in prior posts, but wondering if you played against Notre Dame; and if so, what linemen did you go against?

I redshirted in 87. Special teams primarily in 88. We had two close losses to ND in 89-90. Butted heads with Jeff Alm, Bob Dahl. Had occasional battles with Zorich, Bryant Young on double teams and stunts. A lot of battles with Stonebreaker and Kowalkowski. Eric Jones gave me fits though. Great quickness and length. Dean Lytle was a handful too. Good times. They whipped us good in 91.

Thanks Echo. Fun names to remember and appreciate!
