Mills Out For CFP

Yikes, 3 man rotation of Cross, Hinish, Rubio. Wonder if they’ll try Oben in the interior? DL depth was a major concern heading into the season and may cost ND- how will they stop the UGA rushing attack.

Just devastating news. Wow

That's 4 key DL we have out now for the season
Agreed. Fortunate that Rubio is his replacement, but we are now beyond thin with rotational players on our DL, and teams depend on rotating a lot in today’s game. On the interior, we now have an undersized high motor Hinish and ? For our two deep. Georgia Olinemen are probably salivating.

It scary to think about the lack of depth. There are some bigger guys on he depth chart in Mukam, Houston and Vernon. I know Mukam has played but not sure he is ready for Georgia.

Vernon was a big shot recruit and I haven’t heard a peep outta him. Hinish is a tough Philly kid but he is just so undersized.

This is a devastating loss. Probably our best defensive player outside of Watts.

Maybe it was a concern for some but they answered that question all year that it shouldn't have been.

We played so many guys and they all played well and the DL has been really good all year long on one of the best defenses in the country

We've played 12 guys on the rotation throughout the year. 4 are gone. Now we have to activate 1 more, probably Mukam or Sevillano

Clearly it’s become a major issue so the concern was justified. You’re bound to lose 1-2 guys and the drop off from Mills/Cross to Hinish and God knows who else is massive. Probably the biggest gap from 1 to 2s at any position on the roster.

A very tough one, but next man in.

I think we naturally always look for someone or something to blame, but we have to remember this is football, and injuries are sadly all too common. I’m a Detroit Lions fan being from Michigan and we have 22 players on IR.

Sometimes you’re just dealt a bad hand, luck being the culprit.

Then you can say that about every team in the country. We agree then

Through 13 games it wasn't an issue at all. They've been awesome all year long across the DL

Any team that loses 4 key players at a position it will be a major issue and a concern. Even at OSU or Georgia

We've held up with those injuries that 99% of the country couldn't because the depth is so good.

Depth on the DL has been elite this year

What about sevillano ? Why no one here is taking about him? Is he being redshirted ? Is he hurt ?

Depth at DT is elite? Entering the season, the 2s were Hinish and Onye, the 502 and 629 ranked players out of high school. We my friend have different definitions of elite. We’ve lost 2 guys on the interior (Mills and Onye).

Hinish and Mukan could have navigated a season against unranked teams, the depth is being challenged when it matters most.

Golson employs the adjective elite often when describing the Notre Dame personnel.

We had a 5 man rotation going into the season

Mills
Cross
Rubio
Onye
Hinish

That 5 man group is damn good. We haven't had 1 game all year where all 5 were available and we had multiple games where only 3 were

Yet we still have a top 5 defense.

DE depth that has played in rotation during real games this year

Traore
Botelho
Junior
Thomas
Oben
Burnham
Young

That's 12 dudes right there in the DL rotation during the year. Not many teams (maybe 5) can go that deep in their rotation and be high high quality throughout a year

Top 5 defense in the country. Yes the DL depth was elite this year. 4 players now out for the year yet we're still standing

Yes, ELITE

Jaguash is back. Plenty of OL. Move Rocco Spindler over to DL. He has it in his blood. U gotta do what u gotta do b/c our DL will be going up against heavyweights now forward. We need depth.

We are playing real teams now though.

Ga couldn't run against worse d-line line ups

Funny thing though, when talking about the ND defense, all the college pundits, announcers, coaches, scouts …also call NDs defense elite.

Why don’t you stick to arguments that have at least an ounce of merit to support your narrative …

The interior/DT is far from elite, is there is not 1 Top 100 player in the group or 150.

Mills and Cross are both top level players. Whatever your rankings is, is wrong

The DL depth has been outstanding this year

Withstood 4 players lost for the season and multiple others who missed games and were banged up

Omg…is that what you do in Madden?
When is the last time Rubio made it through a season without injury so he is a gray area. But hey if you don't like my idea we will play the best teams shorthanded. The offense just has to score between 50 to 60 per game.

We will be run blitzing like crazy

Hopefully cross can improve health wise and have an impact. He did not vs IU

Mills was probably the most important player on D after watts

Corners on islands even more now
