Congrats to the team for the win but let's take a moment and think about a few things.

1. Texas looks to be a real rebuilding project, the coaching decisions were a bit mystifying, like why Heard had the only two first downs for Texas no the first half and didn't see the field for the rest of the game.

2. The loss of Folston will be felt as the season goes on, Adams and Prosice had a great game but Folston was the number one RB for a reason.

3. Zaire is the number one, two and three QB's Kazier did a great job sticking up for his RB and showed some leadership BUT missed some open WR's, still needs some mop up duty reps.

4. Georgia Tech and their triple option with better athletes than Navy is the real test, if ND can escape with a win and any D-Linemen left, I'll be a believer.

Sorry in that guy

1- yes . They were overmatched . coaches just wanted to get out of dodge to live another day. Texas ( yes Texas) was overmatched not Portland state , texas state, etc This was still a power 5 team .

2- Floston was the #1 back for many reasons but his experience and knowledge of the offense more then talent/ speed. Reps in practice ere limited for the frosh.. it's urgency time now. My biggest fear is that the frosh see tons of blitz pickups that overwhelm them . So it's important to use more TE sets where he stays in to protect Zaire. Folston big loss but will be felt less as season progresses.

3- GTECH is going to be really tough . The QB is unreal. Gotta score score score. IMO the Oline will have to win that game .

Rebuilding on offense I will buy. Defensively not so much....or better yet, ND is that good on offense. We have a stable of receivers that could be the #1 on any college. We have a bunch. #10 didn't even get to show us anything from the tight end spot but apparently he is real special. Add in the element of a purposeful runner out of the qb spot and it just opens up that much more.

Sure losing folston is not ideal, but I have to tell you the committee behind him is faster. It could hurt on blitz pick-ups for sure. But we are assuming here. He didn't grasp picking up the blitz too good last year ....I.e. McDaniel playing a lot for that very reason. So why are we already awarding him the best blocker of the rb's ? I'm not. Those other backs will be ok, more than make up for it with their speed advantage over folston.
Add in someone has to account for Zaire taking off now.... The offense won't miss a beat.

Defensively for us is still questions. We weren't challenged whatsoever.

Make no mistake we really don't know how good our defense is......no idea....but our offense could have scored 30 plus points against anyone. We are that good on offense.
