Ridiculous. They are customers the minute they drive into the parking lot. It's not your dime. The game didn't start yet.

The fans aren't paying to watch the other customers.Yep, and there are many in the stands acting way more disrespectful.
Sure every has those rights. I am not sure who is saying those rights don't exist. The players have the right to kneel, the fans have the right to find it offensive and the owners have the right to not employ those players.
I think they want people to start taking consideration of race as seriously as they do the national anthem. Why does a player protesting make you so mad?Ok here's my question. What exactly is it that the protesting players want done? Do they want an apology for something? Do they want money from a wrong doing? It's like a strike. You go on strike because you want something. Once you get that "something" the strike ends. So what do the players want? If they get what they want will they then stand for the national anthem? Or is this protesting an " open ended" thing? Does anyone realize that if fans stayed home and just stop supporting the NFL, eventually it would cease to exist? Sure, it would take a while. But think about it. Fed up fans stop going to games, stop watching TV games, stop buying merchandise , stop everything. Believe me that's all it takes. The fans really have the power. No more overpaid, overhyped, overblown athletes. I know it will never happen. But imagine if it did. I hate these ego maniacs that make a kings ransom and and still bitch that mommy and dadddy never bought them a little red wagon for their birthday. They need to get over themselves.

They re not paying to watch players stand for the anthem either.who would buy a ticket to that ?The fans aren't paying to watch the other customers.

Why are players held to a different standard than the fans ? Browns players weren't talking on their phones or chugging beer during the anthem. Keep them in the locker room like they used to.
Why should we accept a normalized view about the existence of the KKK?

Nice!If I go to your church and start singing the National Anthem when you are praying how would you like it?
You wouldn't be paying that $$$ if you didn't think it was worth it. If you don't elect to go someone would replace you. If national sensitivities lead to nobody going--which is about as likely as Trump stalking Rosie O'Donnell---the players will experience a blowback for fans being bizarrely concerned about their pregame comportment. What the hell are you talking about? It's my dime the second I paid for those tickets weeks in advance. It's my dime the second I plunk down $40 for parking. Stop going out of your way to defend every damn thing that is left leaning, even when it makes no sense. Without fans, there is no NFL and no NBA and the second one would be a dream come true.

Buying a ticket provides the opportunity to watch the game. What's next ? Bitching about the coldness of the beer ? The saltiness of the popcorn ? You CHOOSE to attend a sporting event. The only thing you are entitled to is the seat and that the game is played. You act like you are entitled to have everything else associated with game exactly the way you want it. I don t care for the kneeling either but to act like I m owed more than what I paid for as a fan is quite arrogant in my opinion. It's everyone's dime. Quit acting like yours is more important than the next guys. nowhere in this thread have I defended their protest. I'm more annoyed with your constant sense of entitlement .What the hell are you talking about? It's my dime the second I paid for those tickets weeks in advance. One I would say the "why don't they kneel for abused women" is probably a product of society as a whole. People are more mad about anthem protests then the league letting abusers play so why should the players prioritize domestic violence over race? Second, I think(and I may be wrong) you perspective on race may be framed by your interactions. If you dont see or encounter racism on a daily basis the level of problem is not as high as those that do. I dont get how this is an entitlement thing though. It's not the protesting that makes me mad. They or anyone else have that right and I do not have an issue with it. It's the entitlement I hate. Why aren't they kneeling for abusing women. It's well documented through the years that many women were and are abused by football players and other high profile athletes. Does anyone take a abusing women seriously? I'm playing devils advocate here. people do take race seriously. But it's a non stop drum beat that over time it loses its luster. It's like the boy who cried wolf. Just because something happens to someone black, doesn't automatically mean it happened because of skin color. So when it actually does happen because of skin color, people tend to not give it much attention due to the fact that using "race" all the time has devalued its stigma. At least that's the way I see it. Feel free to disagree, I don't take it personally.
Because they have a platform and they find it important to bring awareness to an issue?Exactly what Racism are they protesting ?
Why are they making their Racial Protests to football fans who are paying money to see their " Sports Idols " play
( most of whom are probably Black people ? ) , to buy their memorabilia, and to cheer for them to succeed.
Whatever racial grievances they are protesting,it seems to me that should find a better venue to do their Protesting?
Yes they have a right to do it under the constitution but at some point as society evolves fringe groups like the KKK should probably be dropped. As a society we should demand better from ourselves and our neighbors then to allow the KKk to exist. Everyone seems to agree racism is actually bad but now we see dudes spewing out and perpetuating racism with the sole goal of spreading racism and encouraging others to do it and our response is "well they have a right to do it." At some point society has to say "nah this shit is done we are better then this."They're allowed to have a peaceful march, under the First Amendment. I'm no fan of the KKK, but I recognize their right to do that.
Fans know the risk of players protesting and they still pay for the tickets. Seems like the market allows for protests. What the hell are you talking about? It's hardly established that ratings were down because of how players acted during playing of the anthem. Many believe that general awareness about the inherent unhealthy dangers of simply playing the game were a turnoff and kept fans away. Regardless of the reasons, if the market determines that the game can't be sustained, so be it."If you don't elect to go someone would replace you."
There weren't enough to replace them last year as ratings were down. May not happen overnite but it may head that way if people are turned off enough.
There is a lot to unpack here but I think some of the generalizations you are making are problematic.Take consideration of race seriously?
Maybe they should start taking their vote seriously and stop electing politions that have not improved their environment?
May be they should consider wearing a condom, or go on birth control if you are not ready for the consequences?
Maybe they should stay in school and learn something?
Maybe he should take responsibility for their in actions?
Maybe they should stop being a race, and be an individual!
The opportunities are their for minorities,...now comes the hard part ...work hard, and sacrifice to get ahead.
It's ridiculous to think those that are left behind is somebody else's fault.
You can have varying degrees of outrage sure, but how you express your outrage when it comes to issues that do not directly affect you demonstrates how you prioritize the issues. No one on this board cares as much about the league letting guys who hit their wives/gf's stay in the league as they do about the anthem. The anthem protests are what triggered the posts and the posters talking about boycotts...I don't understand the notion that people are more upset about the anthem than domestic abuse. Who is saying that? There are degrees of outrage and the two don't have to be equally repugnant to have people vent about them. I remember being at the orange bowl for a Miami-Florida game in the early 2000s & the beer was warm. Everyone was pissed, but not as pissed as if one of the players disrespected the anthem, and certainly not as pissed as if one of the players had beaten up his girlfriend the night before and was still on the field playing. Varying degrees of outrage based on the situation.
If you think the players disrespecting the flag is the reason for the drop in ratings you are buying off on some bad analysis. And just ftr, the ratings were down for the NFL last year. So maybe the more the players disrespect the flag & anthem, the less people will attend. Seems like that's what's happening to a degree already.
No he is not. If he was good enough then the distraction that would come with his signing would be worth it.That's ok. Then why all the bellyaching in NYC by black protesters in front of the NFL office? Is Kapernick owed a job?
Were you denied what you paid for ?My ticket purchase entitles me to a sporting event. Not self righteous millionaire athletes pontificating about things they know little about. Don't care what annoys you. You may bully your students around the classroom but it doesn't work with a grown adult who's actually been around the block a time or two.

When I was younger and living in Austin I went to 4-5 shows a week, now with a real job and life I got to 4-5 shows a year. I am in agreement with you I just want you to shut up and play the hits. What you are saying is pretty accurate IMO. Case in point. I shelled out big bucks to go see Bonnie Raitt a while back and Crosby Stills & Nash at a different venue. Both acts took it upon themselves to waste precious concert time by pontificating instead of performing and yet, much of the crowd were cheering them on. I don't care if it's the Singing Nun. Be quiet and perform. Both shows sold out. Two acts I like musically but I will never waste dime one seeing them perform again.
