That is 100% coaching. People trash BK but he won virtually all games against lesser teams. ND had won 40 some odd games in a row vs unranked teams coming into the season.
Now Freeman has lost to two of the worst.

One pattern is Freeman and company does not make any in game adjustments. Starting with the Fiesta Bowl all the way to today. Freeman and Rees have absolutely no idea what to do or what’s going on.
He was saying that because he had a playoff game to get ready for and didn't want the distractions. ND should have waited until after the playoff games to make a decision.
We've lost to OSU, Marshall and Stanford. BYU was a good win. You can't say we almost beat OSU if we're losing to crap teams.

I personally enjoyed all of 2016. Including the NCState hurricane game. With probably the best talent at QB Nd had since Quinn.
The stat is correct. You’re bringing up games from 2011/2016. Kelly won his final 40 straight games against teams ND was favored to beat. Aka 2017-2021.
Freeman can’t throw it for Drew. He can’t make him grow. He can’t hold onto the ball before half for him. He can’t hit a wide open Lenzy for the TD.
What we can hang on freeman is he should have taken the points instead of going on 4th in Q1. That’s on him and Lou would kicked that every time. Kelly would have kicked also. Take points when you can.
We can blame him for not going to the portal for a QB. Those are on MF.
We have some things coming together well. The run game. Tobias looks like the real deal.
The defense has held every team well under their average.
We just don’t really have a great QB. You need a great QB. If we had a top QB this season is completely different.
Go to the portal, find a top QB and have them on for Carr or TB. Start kicking FG’s.

offensively Notre Dame has one thing and that’s a tight end. QB and WR is a damn mess. And where is this great running game?

Kelly isn't gone. His anemic offense is still here. It's being run by Rees.
This is coach speak. Every coach is going to say that when they don’t get offered the job. I’ve never heard a coach admit, yeah, I wanted that but unfortunately I have to stick with my team.
But, just to play along… Anyone besides Marcus Freeman. Fickell, Rhule, Mark Stoops, Chip Kelly, Dave Clawson. Fleck, Campbell, Fitzgerald. That would be my tier 1. Then there are a dozen tier two that are far better than Freeman.

I’m done. Fire Freeman. I was a big supporter. I was wrong. The guy is a so bad and is so lost. He’s so embarrassing. He doesn’t even coach in the sideline bc he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Fickell was the right move and we let a future HOF slip right out of our hands.
The team failed and that is on the HC. No matter how much you want to claim otherwise.
The HC is accountable for everything, no doubt or argument there. I just don’t see where this game I can say “MF did this” outside of not taking the points. That was the wrong call.

The O put up a goose egg in the first half. That’s can’t happen. You have to go after your offense. It’s not good at all.
They where in good positions. They had people open. They ran for over 160 yards.
There was plenty of plays out there to be made, you have the athletes except at QB.
This offense is really pathetic under both QB’s so far. One game in 6 you made it out of the 20‘s. In the red zone we have bad designs or calls.

Your excuse for him vs Marshall? As I said it seems to be a pattern that MF is unable to get his team up for the down opponents. A serious flaw in any HC.

Kelly’s “anemic” offense averaged 34 points a game and had consistent 10 win seasons.
