Hunter Jr. analysis?

Hey guys,

So the media are all saying he is primed for a "breakout year." Is this accurate? Is this more than wishful thinking? I realize Fuller was not nearly the player his Jr year as he was his "breakout" Sr. year, but that doesn't necessarily mean Hunter is primed to do the same. He was so overshadowed by Fuller last year, I can't say that I even recall him doing much extra ordinary. Now I know he had the amazing one handed catch in the blue-gold game, but is he truthfully ready to be a star. I HOPE SO. Just looking for some analysis from those who may have followed him a bit closer.

On a side note, I'm expecting big things from CJ Sanders. He will be elusive on screen plays and weaving through the middle. Here is to hoping he is recovering to 100% from the surgery.

Thanks guys

I'm thinking the same thing. I hope they are right about Hunter Jr. but he certainly isn't proven. Side note....Fuller left after his Junior year not Senior year.

The thing is there will be more balls this year to be thrown his way with the losses ND has had at WR. If he seizes the day then he will have a great year...if not one of the other WR will step up and become the go to guy.

The thing is there are so many good options at the WR position, it could be anyone of them breaking out or it could be excellence as a group. Both QB's like to throw the ball deep and both do it well.

I'm getting a bit off topic of Hunter, but Phil Steele has 5 of our 10 opponents in his pre-season ranking. Maybe our schedule isn't so weak after all.. Tex, Mich St, Miami, Stanford, and USC. I understand these programs are all breaking in new QB's, but so did we last year. We can't sleep on this schedule.

Texas will be spitting nails after last years debacle - look for them to run the ball like they did against the Sooners.

key will be:
ND gets out and scores 1st
and ND's game plan is to force Texas to throw; so stuff them on 1st dwn.

Should be a pretty huge year for Hunter, if he stays healthy.

By all reports he's been the best WR on the team throughout the spring (not just in the game) and he's by far the most proven commodity coming back at the WR position.
Additionally, Hunter is really a "returning starter" at WR, as he overtook Carlisle later in the season and out-produced him.

When you consider that how strong our offense should be, strength at QB, and wide-open opportunity at WR..........the WR currently being billed as the #1 should have an opportunity for a breakout.

I'd expect something somewhat similar to a TJ Jones senior season from Hunter

Texas will be breaking in a new offensive system with possibly a true freshman at QB. I like our chances of seeing the series record go to 10-2.
I agree Ara. New staff and still no QB. ND will roll them again.

Their weakness on D is their DLine. ND will have a strong OLine once again. We will also have three solid RBs & two solid running QBs. I hope we don't forget this & get pass happy early.
