Herw come the fire Kelly threads

Based on what Kelly has accomplished prior to tonight he's not going to be fired. If the team falls apart against Navy and Stanford I still don't see him being fired. I don't think he is a great coach but he's not the worst coach in the country. I think this whole program gets exposed for what it is every time they play a team with speed and talent across the board.

I don't think Miami is more talented, out qbs are handing the game to Miami. Not even giving our defense a chance. Bit thr play calling on offense sucks. But kodos to Miamis defense.

I said it after the Georgia game. Neither Kelly or Kirby Smart are elite coaches. They dont know how to adjust to various looks and situations even though they have tons of talent. Kelly threw his QBs under the bus saying they made mistakes but it is the play calling, predictability, lack of substitutions in the running game and the lack of fire and passion in the HC. If you know Wimbush is an average passer then you have to make adjustments not blame him. Kelly should have been ousted last year. I am not going to say fire Kelly because I dont care anymore. If you want to win a NC you have to have a proven elite coach, top notch talent and a strong belief in your program. Miami has a better coach than us, similar talent but they have that passion and belief in their program which is missing from Kelly the technician.

And here come the fire re Kelly in 3....2....1

Absolutely.....I said it multiple times throughout the season that everyone would forget this team was predicted to go 8-4 or 9-3. Suddenly we were supposed to be the best team in the country one year later?

And for the poster who said “we should beat this team,” really? Why? They were undefeated and yes, we’ve played well all season. But supposed to win? No, not really.

Obviously we are all upset over the performance tonight. Very disappointing. But it’s always the overreaction with fire BK. The QB play was very poor so let’s fire Rees. D and O bad, so fire Long and Elko. Fire the Line coaches, the Secondary coaches, the strength coaches, the water boys, the massage therapists, and the damn bus driver.

I’m disappointed, I’m pissed off, and I’ll be back rooting for my Irish next week.

It's about missed opportunities. How do we know ND will be in this position again next season - with a chance to win out in games they are favored in - to get into the playoffs. Injuries, discipline issues, etc. could occur and put ND in a position where they have two losses early on and are out of the race before it gets going. You have to strike while the iron is hot. Kelly can't get it done in this regard. He's proven it time after time. Time for a new voice.

I hear ya and of course you and all Irish fans are entitled to your opinions. I don’t have a strong opinion of BK one way or the other. I do know he made significant changes this year that Everybody, even his haters, had to respect and admire. His players responded and seemed to love them as well. And his players seem to love him. But sometimes it’s just time for a change, I won’t argue that.

Constant low percentage incomplete long passes on 1st down are the work of the devil.

Even if the Irish lose to Stanford, Kelly will have beaten expectations for the regular season at 9-3. He won't be fired this year.

As I said in another thread I don't think Kelly is the best or the worst coach and changing coaches every 3-4 years I feel constantly sets your program back but I do feel there comes a point where it's just time for a change. However, I don't know if you see any different results in the long run. ND just doesn't seem to be able to play with teams that can recruit speed and talent across the board.

Dang, you really do enjoy losing to big time competition nearly every time out under this regime. Are you an ND fan?
Sorry, please point to where I said I enjoy losing. I just don't knee jerk like the rest if the chicken littles here. As far as being a ND fan well lets see I've been to every home game this year. Been to over 150 home games over decades. Ive been through the best and worst seasons. We over achieved this year. Did usc throw in the season after we trashed them? Get a grip.

We didnt just lose. We were blown out, incopetent, humiliated. Very similar to blow outs at USC every other year. I wouldnt doubt if Pitt beats Miami. There is no way they are this good. I think that emotionally BK has nothing to offer and most big games are emotional. The fans should call the offensive plays. We would do better.

I disagree. ND beat USC this year. ND beat Miami last year. How much turnover occurred in the Canes roster from last year that they were 30 odd points better than the Irish. ND almost beat Clemson and FSU on the road within the last few years. ND can play with teams with speed and talent across the board with the exception of Ohio State and Alabama. The problem is Kelly. He can't get this team over the hump when it counts.

Bullshit.

This coach gets exposed everytime the stakes are high, in a hostile environment....

It's his theme.

How in the **** can't he even have won a couple of these even by accident.

Like vs USC this year?

You guys aren't making any sense.
Great win. Set up perfectly with a banged up team coming cross country and ND rested off the bye week.

If he lost that game there would be zero hope for him. You can’t deny the fact he and his teams melt down 90% of the time in big time road games.

Kelly has never won at Stanford or Michigan. He hasn’t won a major bowl game. Since the ACC deal started he’s lost all four of the big road games. That’s Florida State, Clemson, NC State, and Miami. 0-11 record in the situations I presented.

He’s an 8-4 coach that can beat MSU and Wake. There’s no denying he’s an average coach and I agree ND can’t get that much better of a coach. It’s smart to stick with guaranteed 8-4 instead of getting a potentially worse fit as HC and fall back to 6-6.

He approaches it as just another game . One more opponent. And away game is a business trip. We need to execute with great attention to detail. Well doesn't that fire everyone up. Big games are big games and can't be treated as another game.. And football is a game of emotion. His track record proves he sucks big time in huge games . The team comes out like a deer in headlights time and again in big moments. That's on the HC . It's time for a change if you care about being a winning big time program again bc he's not the guy for it.

I follow Iowa, Arizona, and Notre Dame in football. An 8-3, 9-2 season for the first two are great. Is it enough for Notre Dame fans?
