Any recommendations for restaurants, site seeing, etc? I trust the ND insiders more than tripadvisor.

Thank You!!

Well, one thing I always advise is to take the time to visit the gravesite of Knute Rockne. It's just a short trip from campus. Highland Cemetery, located at the intersection of Portage Avenue and Lathrop Street. Stop in the office and they will give you a map to the gravesite. Also, my grandson plays ten year old travel baseball and though the competition is much better than actual Little League, the travel can be a pain in the neck. I assume you are involved with travel ball. Good luck and have a safe trip.

No advice here, just a fun travel sport story. I took an 8th grade girls travel basketball team to a competition at ND several years back. I had a couple "bigs" - a power forward and a center - both over 6 feet tall. (Girls grow up earlier than boys.) The PF eventually became a target for ND recruiting but she choose another university for her college ball. ND coaches told her they first noticed her at that competition when she was just an 8th grader. I hope one of your baseballers gets noticed too.

I would do everything possible on campus. Here is a link to ND game day which has maps and other stuff. The Grotto, Sacred Heart Church, the Admin building, Dillon Hall's chapel (statue of St. Olaf back right is a great place for prayer)... There are tons of statues to admire - Jesus, Mary, Moses, Father Sorin..... try to get into Dillon or any dorm to see a chapel. It was great to visit other dorms for mass..... bookstore... Have fun.....so much to see and spiritually admire....

I always try to get first timers to think outside the box. Campus attractions are obvious and there are free campus maps to act as a guide. That's why I used to suggest the College Football HOF and still strongly suggest making a pilgrimage to the grave of Knute Rockne and family. Every Irish fan should be making that trip when going to South Bend.

Leave some whiskey, a cigar and tip one too....

Thanks for the advice. We are an 11 year old travel team from a suburb of Columbus, OH. Going to see TD Jesus, the stadium, baseball stadium, want to see chapels, hope we have time to see a lot. Looking forward to it! Thank you again!!

Good luck and watch out for dump trucks.

Although most of the campus is quietly pristine, there are several LARGE construction projects happening on campus.
A lot of the natural beauty of the campus and it's architecture, is overtaken by construction equipment and hundreds upon
hundreds of trade workers. The end result when all is complete, will be amazing, but the campus is a bit crowded and noisy
at this point in time.
