Guy’s we will miss Tommy

Ah excuses already rolling in

Tommy had 5 years to recruit and develop a QB, forget that?
I wasn't implying that Parker would be better or worse than Rees. I have no idea about that. I just know we have a better QB this year. And that's important to any offense. But I guess Rees does get an assist on bringing in Hartman, though.

CJ Carr as well.

Results good or bad will speak for themselves

We all know what Tommy did or didn't do here. That is set

Now it's Parkers time. Let's see if he will be better or worse than Tommy

My guess is better

Tommy Rees is 30, started at QB for ND in 30 games, played QB in 45 games, and is making 2-million per season as the Alabama OC, after coaching at ND for 6 years, three as the OC. One of the seasons as OC the team went to the CFB playoffs. And some here sit behind a keyboard and take shots at the dude.
None of some lost to Marshall.

YOU WILL NOT MISS Tommy Rees... Parker will prove to be a very good hire!!! There is not a team on their schedule that they won't score on! the OSU game will be very different this year! USC is a one man show! Clemson iffy!

Just wondering will this years offense be a spread offense ? What kind of offense you guys think it will be ?

Gattis left Michigan because he felt he was not appreciated at Michigan. When Jim was flirting with the Vikings, Garris felt he should be the next HC. When it was evident he was not next in line he bolted.

https://footballscoop.com/news/josh-gattis-michigan-departure-miami-text-to-players#:~:text=%22In%20life%20I%20would%20never,a%20text%20to%20Wolverine%20players.&text=Josh%20Gattis%20has%20left%20Michigan,who%20wasn't%20Josh%20Gattis.

Also, Jim never took the play calling over.
Well you are right, he wasn’t appreciated haha. He was terrible. I mean he’s in the same position at Maryland now. Jim didn’t want him. Mario didn’t want him. Terrible coach.

Was watching some talking head about Parker. I honestly was not aware of his background, shame on me. He was very high on him as a coach. Not sure why, he talked about some of his WR and QBs.

Regardless, ND was 60th last year in total offense and 38 the year before that. Maybe thats TR, maybe thats talent, maybe that's just a very young and talented OC that needs some more time in the oven to bake.

I was grateful Tommy stayed and certainly will always be a fan from his playing days to how he handled himself. Someone else said it, he was not going to learn any more from MF. It was time for him to get taught by Yoda.

MF has a leadership quality and personality that is infectious. He needs to surround himself by talented experienced coaches. He is not teaching anyone anything at his age and resume outside of being a great individual, motivator and human.

No, I beg to differ. Rees was BK’s boy. He has better talent at Bama, but we will see how it plays out. I think Bama losses three games this year against the SEC schools

What is Alabama’s SOS in 2023 ?

At the Texas a&m, at auburn, Georgia in the SEC Championship game. Do not be surprised when Texas rolls the tide on their home field or Tennessee pulls off a shocker for the firstQ time in three seasons Bama does not have a clear leader at QB. Their best bet is two QB’s that are 24 Th or 25th in the Heisman voting race. I have nothing against TB

I don’t understand something you seem to be alluding to.

1. They have the # 1 coach in college football.
2. They have had the # 1 or # 2 recruiting classes for the last three years.

So why do you think that they’ll have a so-so season ?

UT was 6th, LSU was 16th and TX was 25th. Thats the 3 toughest games with last year as a guide.

Without a QB, UT and LSU will be a handful. TX seems to be overrated year in, year out.

But it is lord Saban, even with 3 losses ESPN would be talking about if they should still have a shot at the CFP.

No doubt!

I could see Bama losing 3-4 games, if they don't find a good QB. Their schedule's tough. LSU, Texas and Tennessee are all capable of beating them, as well as teams like TX A&M, which has a lot of talent, if not results on the field the last few years.

Thank you. How does bama not have dude at QB being they go two deep studs at other positions. Years, years, years ND has the same problem. Having a 3 million dollar top five NFL talent scared away other QB’s. Once again, I have nothing against TB, but he is a pick 6 machine. Of course, he does not call the plays, oh wait, I believe Bama has a new OC. The South Carolina game is a prime example of my point. First and goal around their 10 yard line instead of giving it to human road grader Audric let’s throw a pass over the middle. Anybody else would have run the ball twice and thrown a safe pass on third down. Kicking a field goal would have sealed that game

What's so ironic is the Freeman isn't the head coach unless Tommy agreed to stay. Kelly offered him $2M per year to become the LSU coordinator. Rees announced he was staying first before Freeman got the job. Rees, Balis and Freeman were a package deal, otherwise the head coach is probably Fickell. Now 2/3 original package deal are left. Marshall and Stanford aren't Rees's "fault" anymore.

I have stated multiple times I really question the hiring of Parker.

There is nothing on his resume to give me confidence he is the guy to bring ND a championship, if of course that is the goal.

I am a big supporter of Freeman. He must see something behind the scenes that we are not privy too.

Parker is the biggest question mark going into the season.
Who?

I am about wins and loses
Parker will have to lead ND to a playoff win.

So what if ND has 15 more TDs but still can’t win a playoff game?

2021 ND scored a lot of points
And how many playoff wins did tommy turnover have. I'll take Parker + Gino over TT anyday

How many times has GP even called one play in a college football playoff game???

I hope Parker is the top OC in the country. I hope he makes me eat crow every weekend.

Personally I’m pumped to see Tommy with 5star talent. Sayin coming in and they’re leading for a bunch of 2025 receivers.

Maybe a long shot but if he excels there with that talent, and comes back to ND one day, this move would benefit ND tremendously. It will help him recruit talent. 5stars want to go where previous 5stars were successful.

It’s the same concept as why Weis recruited offensive talent so well. The QBs wanted to play for a proven offensive coach. He just couldn’t develop talent and didn’t worry about defense….

I personally don't want him back here. Him succeeding at Alabama is a given as its almost impossible to fail with all that talent. He better hope he isn't the only one to fail because that would look really really bad for him and would set him back years

Why are playoff wins solely TR’s responsibility ?

Doesn‘t defense play a role in determining outcomes ?
Who said they were? Zorich said hes all about wins and losses and Parker would have to lead ND to a playoff win. You need to read and comprehend before you spat your mouth off like you like to do.

If he succeeds at Bama, goes somewhere else, succeeds again, you don’t want him back? All because he left to learn from the greatest college football coach in the last 50 years? You don’t think he’s going to improve immensely in the coming years?

I get what you’re saying, and don’t totally disagree. I just hope that Tom’s success at Bama doesn’t create “false positives” that eventually affect ND and drive ND to maybe make a not so great decision.

I like Tom Rees, I do, but the results here were good, not great.

Go be great at Bama. Then go be great somewhere else, then maybe come home to ND at some point.
