Game thread … ND - WF

Yeah, the score doesn't really reflect the competitiveness of this game. Need a stop here.

A little disappointed in both lines, we seemed to be losing the battle in the trenches.
If you're referring to the past protection, it's due to the scheme. WF is doing some overload blitzes and ND doesn't have enough guys to account for everyone blitzing. Should either do a quick screen or keep the back in to block.

Kelly yells at Bonner when Romeo was the guy who had the face mask. What a jerk.

By the tone of this thread you'd think the Irish were down 21-0!
BTW, I'm happy!:)

Now, imagine that QB fumble was against Stanford and our players are standing around thinking it was an incomplete pass. Didn't this happen a couple of years ago in an important game? The point is. ND needs to clean up this kind of basic stuff. Every game there is something like this going on.

Wake plays a 3-4 defense. Giving Oline a couple of problems. The ND brain trust will get it worked out at the half. Good prep for the Stanford 3-4.

Its not particularly pretty. Wake should probably have 6 points, but they were up 21-0 at half. Tough crowd.

Back end of our defense stinks. And we gotta be the worst tackling team in the country. It's week after week.
How many 3rd and longs can we continually give up.

That said that was a complete BS call on the punt!

No passion. Typical. You are ranked 4th and style points matter. Play some ball guys.

Zone blitzing is very similar to man blitzing. They each have their strengths and weaknesses. The issue is execution, and I happen to think that our defense just isn't that good.
Agree the execution is not there. Just think the zone blitzing is putting the players in a tougher spot as opposed to just lining up and playing man. And it's not as if WF WRs are dangerous.

Oline is maddening. They can dominate at times and then they can't block a two year old. This is pathetic.
