Howard doesn't use ND in front of 74, so don't know why you assume that connection. Perhaps that is his birth year, or ??? As for the fraud reference, you probably have several other posts that better support your view. Just saying.
The rules of this site have always been posted. You have choices, post within the rules of this site, find a new site whose rules you find agreeable, start your own site and make your own rules.
Howard Hall is a dorm on campus, so I take his handle to mean that he lived in Howard Hall and graduated in 1974. I actually know who he is---he's been a regular on this board, has posted under various names, claims to be an alum, and invariably ends up getting banned.
OK...this seems double standard to me.
As I said...if he's banned because of insults then 80% of this board needs to go.
Seriously...example of this. Someone says Brian Kelly has no idea what he's doing etc...backs it up perhaps with some facts to cement their narrative and then they will be called dumb, stupid ...oh that's right they will do so in such a back handed way that apparently it goes under the radar.

This has nothing to do with the rules, but the random, subjective choices of when you enforce the rules. That's the problem. Don't you get it? Or should we write our responses slower?

No, it's not selective banning.
Apparently CGVR had been given a vacation recently. When that happens, you need to take a step back and maybe make some changes. He chose to not change and therefore the rules were enforced.
If you or I were to have the same thing done (a real warning by the mods), I would hope we would decide to re-evaluate what we're saying and how we're saying it.
Bryan, not sure if you will read this or not. what cvgr posted was not detrimental to the board. If some snowflake can't handle what he posted then there is a bigger problem here than cvgr. I realize this is a free site and you have to worry more about the paying customers and articles but I imagine there is some cross pollination for potential customers

You've been on this site longer than I have, you know there's rules posted at the top of the site, always has been. The rules and moderating under the current regime is different but posters have been given a rather long leash to express themselves and if a poster continually ignores the rules, eventually he/she will be sitting in the corn.

This whole thing to me seems upside down. We have a block feature...no? But the board only teases us with such immense responsibility of blocking someone...I mean this decision apparently is entirely way too critical for us to make that determination on our own so the board will determine that for us.
Lastly I'm still trying to figure out why CGVR was banned yet others are left to continue their sarcasm and sharp tongue.
People right here in this very thread calling people names etc...BTW they sound so mature it's rather comical. We have people saying I was around when Montana scored in the cotton bowl because I was in my junior year of college then....these acting like they're five years old on here yet no banning. Insulting every other poster if they disagree with them etc. Yet they're here in full text form insulting away yet CGVR is dismissed.

88 - The post from cgvr was removed by the mods. He basically invented figures that he was posting to show Kelly and his wife were stealing from Kelly's charity. A few other posters had commented on the post also but they quoted the original post and those have also been removed. Come on now, questioning the coach for his football is one thing, but accusing him of fraud and criminal activity? You really think that's ok?

Death threats, physical harm threats, threats of terror ...I can certainly see but to ban someone for making something up?
I don't care what Kelly does with a charity. If it's criminal we pay authorities to handle that type of thing...

It just seems bizarre to me people on here thumping the posting rule book yet a lot of these same people are breaking the rules every other post.

CGVR stepped over the line about Kelly's charity. The post was deleted. If you don't want to report than by all means ignore.
The rules/guidelines of this board preceded the ignore feature. While the ignore feature might make the tedious or even vulgar poster disappear from your view, the posts are visible to the rest of the board. Wasn't it last spring/summer that some disgruntled poster kept posting porn on the board? There are times when you need to report, posts be deleted and unfortunately, posters banned.
The insults cut both ways, I'm sure the likes you get are posters who agree with you and not me. It's a tit for tat thingy.

If that is true, he absolutely should be removed. I didn't see that. Perhaps that was a decision of the moderators because of content we did not see . We saw very little of the entire exchange. Maybe we should have. That was a choice of the moderators. An explanation should be provided. We all know it won't.
