Curt Cignetti

Cignetti is a dick, pure and simple. He coached locally at Elon and he was a prick from day one. He’s finally made it to the big leagues (google me) and thinks that his dickness will work in Bloomington. The act will wear out soon (although they did adore the biggest dick head coach in college sports) so maybe the good Indiana fans like dicks.
Geez, tell us how you really feel. IU did have a basketball coach by the name of Knight who was astonishingly abhorrent in how he treated people, but he did win some games. Maybe that's the thinking with hiring Cignetti.

It's totally working for him. He just took a nothing non-football school IU program and went 11-1 and made the 12 team playoff with a bunch of 1-AA players in his first effin' season. Whatever he's doing is absolutely working. In fact, chances that MF could pull off the same feat is absolutely dead stone zero. And I'm pretty sure he's the consensus national coach of the year, sweeping all the various awards.

So WTF on god's blue-green earth are you talking about??

WTF are you talking about? MF is a better coach than Cignetti.

He has had one really good season. Are you going to crown him? Let's see what he does next year.

You have no personal knowledge of the man, I do. My comment was about his character, not whether he wins or loses. Character matters to me, must not to you. Suggest you read more closely before you feel the need to say ‘WTF’ to another poster.

He's already been crowned. National coach of the year, bitch! But you always move the goalposts, if you don't like somebody. And you don't like him none too much. We just kicked IU's ass and you still hate him. He wasn't abjectly submissive enough in defeat for you.

You're just butt hurt that Freeman is better than Kelly.

Like Kelly's coach of the year award, it loses some of its luster when you get smacked around in the post season.

Oh yeah, so if IU had absolutely curb-stomped ND's sorry ass, then you might have some grudging respect for him. But since we beat them, he's expected to grovel for you. That sounds about right.

No one is saying he didn't have a great year in 25.

I think the larger point is that his style, attitude, demeanor do not bode well for long-term success. In another thread, I compared him to Tom Crean.

I think it'll crash hard for Cignetti. He won't be having too many more 1-loss BIG10 seasons.

It’s Indiana Football. Zero tradition or history.

What Cignetti did accomplish was commendable as you stated. And the transfer portal now allows many teams hope. Like Indiana. The transfer portal has changed CFB and now allows the have nots hope.

And 8 years and 64 million will soften the crash:

Alright, then. Cool. But there's no larger point. Other than bashing some new coach who, as I said, wasn't humble and meek enough after losing to ND. That's the point. I don't give a shit what he does next year. And I like I say, why do you want to ruin this? You want to make the guy seem good, it makes our win look better. When you belittle him like this, and get all nasty, it's cheapens our success. Like, they suck, anybody could have beaten IU. And we'll probably lose to UGA. I guess everyone was bashing IU before the game started, so no reason it would change after the fact.

No.

No one said they suck. Cignetti is just a jerk. He turns people off.

He had a great year. No doubt about it. But he's not as good as he thinks he is. We'll see how he does in 25. He went from the Hunter, to being the Hunted. 2025 Saturday afternoons will be different for him vs 2024.

Their schedule is just as soft next year. Very weak OOC games, although they have Oregon and PSU on the schedule which should eliminate them from the playoffs in 2025.

Wrong. This is just tribalistic rival bashing and coach bashing for exactly the reasons I said. He didn't grovel enough. ND fans were making a big point of dismissing IU before the game and it turns out they were right, we did beat them comfortably. And if the guy's a jerk, it's because wasn't being deferential enough to ND, he wasn't assuming an inferior enough position. Even more so after they lose. Even though, with just a little contemplation, are you honestly surprised that someone who could produce this kind of instant success isn't just some meek guy? That he's probably driven and ambitious and prideful? Doesn't matter. He needs to keep his mouth shut because IU sucks and they're nothing. We are the victors and he needs to kneel.

Agree. 8-4 at Indiana is doable in 2025.

Moron alert.

It really will be interesting if they can replicate 2024. They embarrassed most of the Big 10.
The reality is, both the Big10 and the SEC each have 4-5 teams that are above average to elite and the rest are average to below average teams. Yet the media hypes both conferences up because they gave them a boatload of money and need to market them to recoup their money via advertising.

Illinois
At Iowa
At Oregon
Michigan St
UCLA
At Maryland
At Penn State
Wisconsin
At Purdue

5-4 is doable, 8-4 is doable for Cignetti IMO.

1. Georgia
2. Texas
3. Tennessee
4. Alabama
5. South Carolina
6. Mississippi
7. TAM
8. LSU

That’s 8 teams in the SEC that are at least above average IMO.

Best overall conference in CFB.

This clown never shuts up. When these guys go 6-6 next year still playing mostly cup cakes he’ll be one less over-hyped blowhard crowing the airwaves.

Tennessee was exposed by Ohio State. They were destroyed by OSU

Alabama lost to very average Vanderbilt and Oklahoma

LSU lost to USC, Florida, and got spanked by Alabama

Mississippi lost to Kentucky, Florida, and LSU.

T&M lost to ND at their place. Everyone complains about ND playing cupcakes yet they went into one of the most hostile environments and beat them. And they lost to Auburn.

Like I said, 3-4 top teams in that conference and the rest are non playoff caliber teams.

Considering 84 of 131 FBS teams are bowl eligible, getting to 6-8 wins is no longer a major accomplishment especially when the SEC schedules 2 FCS teams and mostly one weak FBS team. Thats 3 wins most of the SEC teams start off with. It's pretty easy to find 3-5 wins within the conference.

Was Ohio State exposed at home by Michigan?

Big difference Losing 13-10 vs getting destroyed 42-17. Tennessee is supposed to be the SEC's 3rd best team and they got destroyed.
Was ACC champion Clemson exposed by the SEC?

Dabo was 0-3 against the SEC?

Irrelevant to the discussion. We are talking about how many top teams the SEC has. You rattled off 8 teams, and I trimmed that 8 down to 3-4.

If you really want go there. Clemson played the 2nd best team in the SEC tough. Out of the 1st round games, that was the toughest of the four.

Name a better conference than the SEC?

Who?

Clemson lost at home in game 12 to non playoff South Carolina.

Dabo was 0-3 against the SEC.

Again, irrelevant to the discussion. They may have the best conference, but it's primarily based on the top 3-4 teams in the SEC.
I believe Big 10 Oregon, Ohio State, and Penn State match up well with SEC Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee.

It’s the depth of the SEC that I believe is better than the Big 10. Better than the ACC. And better than the Big 12.

If you or others disagree, great.
