Come on Kelly supporters

Man, I guess I started watching ND football in the late 90s- Carlise Holiday era. BK is by far the best I've seen. I went through 9 years of USC beat downs, I've seen the bottom, this isn't it but I think I change would be acceptable. Last year was a pretty good coaching job considering double digit starter injuries.

One thing I don't get about the BK haters is the lack of credit for past seasons/successes. The good D in 2012 was thanks to Diaco, the bad D is now on BK. The rise of Kizer last year was due to the coming of Sanford, the fall of him is on BK. Can we find a happy realistic medium?

How long has he been a cancer? I wasn't ready to bounce him after a 10-3 record last year.
My mistake to agree 100% because I don't think he's a cancer but he's clearly lost it this year.

I've said it so many times on this board, he should have been gone after year 5. Go look at the history of ND coaches, only the very elite stay more than 5 years; Lou, Ara, Leahy and Knute are the only ones that coached 10 or more years. Devine coached 6. Every other coach was 5 years or less... and there is a reason for that.

ND is a tough place with an incredible amount of stress and if you haven't had some great success by year 5 and built a lot of fan loyalty you'll get chewed up. Even Devine, who won a NC, couldn't get beyond 6 years because the fans never warmed to him

He does get credit for it all and he gets blame for it all. That said in 7 years now he's had, by ND standards, 2 good seasons and 5 not so good.

Really he's had 1 great season (2012). 1 good season (2015) the beating at the hands of O$U took some of the luster off. 1 average season (2013) the win in the horrible Pinstripe bowl got us to 9 wins. 3 below average seasons (2010, 2011, 2014) and now 1 downright awful season.

His teams have finish in the top 25 exactly 3 years out of 7. We have been humiliated in both of the major bowls he's coached in. So I'd say he have very few good years to hang his hat on

He does not get credit for the D in 2012, at least on this board. He got no credit for Kizer's play last year, that was Pers crowning Sanford's arrival for the QB play but by god, he is having a tough year- on BK. Keep it consistent is all.

You don't need to re-hash his record or resume for being fired- I think it's justified @ this point and I've read what you just posted a thousand times. Regurgitation. If I was JS, I'd give him 1 more but my opinion is irrelevant as is this entire boards.

its a chore to scroll through the smack.....and its annoying to have to. how about refraining from that stuff....we are better than that.

... but your regurgitation is fine. Yes we all know you want Kelly for another year because... well for no other reason than you hate being wrong.

I couldn't agree more
What gets me mad is the incompetence of a Jack Swarbrick giving Kelly the extension.Just let his contract run out and negotiate from there. ND should have learned from the Weis fiasco.Extending contracts 3-5 years is just stupid. Pay them for what they do not what they might do.Baseball teams have paid dearly for these long term extensions.Give a new coach a five year deal and only renew if showing success. Don't reward coaches for unseen or unproven success down the road. I wish my boss paid us like that. I think Kelly has become complacent in his job.

yep: to avoid the lame duck effect, a contract that is perpetually 3 years to go; unless there is an expressed decision to let the deal expire (by some date). A coach is always working in the 1st year of a 3 year deal. So the max payoff would be 2 years. Not perfect but better than these 5 yr buyout disasters.

Kizer looks like the other ND QB's under Kelly. His offense is terrible and he places an incredible load on a 20 year old QB. Much like BVG defense was too much for most players, Kelly places too much on a college kid.

It is rather amazing that (at least at ND) all of Kelly's QBs (who get significant playing time) end up becoming turn-over machines.

What we have here is the "BK Death Squad" blaming everyone and anyone who stands in their path for the season so far. They seem to be the only enlightened ones around. It's clear that if you are a fan who is no longer a BK supporter but refrain from all the idiotic middle school insults, then you are a BK supporter. Perhaps some around here should go get a degree in Sports Administration, get an entry level job, work your way up the ladder, get hired at ND, get promoted at ND, be named to AD at ND, then, and only then, can you live out your wildest fantasies about hiring and firing. Sounds like a plan. The fact is there are no BK supporters around. Everyone is irritated at the season, at BK, and yes, even at the players. Some of you have not cornered the market at being upset at the way things are going.

so from "mutts" to "enlightened" .....I'll take it.

pro kelly fans were ranged from pretty rough to that smaller assigned group that were incredibly vulgar.
no issue here with the 'ND' fans that thought BK was the answere; but the BK1st ND 2nd fans were intentionally disruptive and foul.

Make your argument now. What's it gonna take? A loss to Army? Or can you excuse that one away too.

Well, I am neither a Kelly supporter nor a specific critic. I support the University and accept the decisions they make; they are the stewards of its status. I do not always agree with the specific decisions, but their decisions have little real impact on my life nor am I really in a position to influence the decision makers. I am extremely disappointed when ND loses and happy when they win, but I have decided and accepted that the outcomes will not directly affect my life; my ego is just not that big.
