Who here realizes that CBK makes $1M a year less than Charlie Weis to coach ND? I'm not comparing salaries - I'm saying that Charlie Weis gets paid $1M more a year to NOT coach ND than BK is being paid.

well the CW contract was possibly the worst contract ever offered by a school. well done agent to get a 10 year deal after 8 games.
All of you can say all you want about Urban, or any other coach...but, when you are paying twice the money to someone NOT TO COACH your team (Charlie Weis) as to someone to coach your team (Brian Kelly) then something is disastrously wrong.
Brian Kelly is working his ass off today to make half the pay Charlie Weis is making from ND to eat a pizza.

Second, every single one of you would have taken the same exact contract as was given to CW. I know some of you have cornered the market on "loving ND", but again, all of you were all in when it came to the hire, Hannah & Friends, "Pass Right", his schematic advantage........ so don't even try to rewrite history that you knew all along about CW. You were all in from the start. So flippin what CW Jr isn't going to ND. Aaron Taylor ,Chris Zorich, Rocket, Dave Duerson all turned on ND at one point. You wanna call them names too? Montana isn't exactly happy with ND. Go after him. CW did everything right except win games. How many times are the same people going to bring up the same lame subject and repeat the same lame insults about a guy they would never approach in real life.
I'm assuming a lot of these people are boosters ane support the university financially.. So yes, it could very well affect them. Just like when you get those taxes pulled from your paycheck to support a cause you disagree with, same principle applies here. Yes, you don't have a choice with taxes but point still remains. Not to mention you want to support a financially responsible institution.
None of this discussion about CW affects anybody on this message board. ND made the deal. No one put a gun to their head. Be angry at the administration who made the deal because these hypocrites who are all over CW would have taken the money too. That's what is so bizarre about this constant attack on Charlie's pay out. They would have taken it too. How does any of this, years after the fact, affect the food on their table or their weekly income? How does this affect the Temple game or the run to the play-offs? Soon, the anger will be aimed at Tommy Rees for no apparent reason, but, his name will come up.

I never attacked Holtz. I pointed out your inaccuracies in grad rates under him. They had dropped into the 70's for the football team and that wasn't acceptable. You can't grasp that simple concept. I also pointed out that the teams he coached had NCAA issues.....
Again, ND/NFL legend Bob Kuechenberg spelled out weis very nicely....

I couldn't get to the bottom of this thread, which has devolved into the typical name-calling stuff were used to on this site, to see if anyone raised the issue of whether any of the salary figures bandied about are even remotely accurate.
Didn't they say Weis was paid $5 million a year? I remember reading a piece that refuted that; I'm sorry I don't remember who wrote it or when exactly, but my memory was that it showed the total package included things like speech fees.
I'm also certain there is no way in hell Brian Kelly is getting paid less than the going rate for coaches at major football schools.
Last, I saw someone on this thread mention Kevin White as the worst AD in ND's history. In fact, across the board, ND sports did quite well under his watch. Football was, and remains, a fickle beast.

Yeah, certain posters reply off-color to a topic and the whole thread goes to waste. From what I understand, ND was on the hook for ~$2M a year through 2015. Thankfully, this is the last year they have to pay. His ND contract was so binding that he was able to get fired, take another HC job where stunk up the field, get fired from there and still be making a solid income from ND.
