I posted a little earlier in the week that as an outsider I thought Kelly just needed more time. I'm not so sure now. At 2-5 it is clear that the train is getting ready to go off the track. The question is what your AD Jack Swarbrick is going to do? Has he said anything publically about what is going on?

It's clear that Swarbrick is going to have to make a decision after your season. If Notre Dame were to finish say 5-7 and not make a Bowl the question is "Does Swarbrick just consider this a bad season and allow Kelly to come back and right the ship in 2017?" Or does Swarbrick think "The train has wrecked and we need to make a change and start fresh with a new coach?" It will be interesting to see what happens. Also, do you think Kelly is the type to just resign or do you think it would come down to Swarbrick having to fire Kelly?

or does he look at the big picture and factor in the sheer number of losses to ranked teams and winless bowl games? Does the pattern matter? We shall see.

If the Irish were losing big every game this season, then I would say BK might be in trouble now , but, ND has been in every game up to the last possession, recruiting is good, players are developed and sent to the NFL, and the defense seems to have improved. He gets next season with an asterisk.

2017 is the make or break year for BK and staff. Sadly though that means 10 wins and a loss in a major bowl game will be acceptable to the admin

There are Tulsa Moments in practically every game Notre Dame plays...many have cost us the win...some are disguised by just enough points to overcome them. Point is...it is who this guy is and that isn't going to change.
