Brian Kelly contract extension

I don't know folks. This tells me one of two things. Either Kelly has the administration believing that improvements will come. Or, the thought I'm siding with. ND has tested waters outside and no viable, sought after coach is stupid to come coach this never ending dumpster fire. This administration is perfectly content fielding 8-4 - 9-3 teams year after year. How many of the big time coaches so far have shot down any ND interests?

I'm interested to know your thoughts on who shot JFK.

Not one guy on this list has ever coached a football program that includes the academic rigors of a ND type university. (except that d*mn harbaugh).

Coach Kelly has led that same ND team to an undefeated season, the NC game, and the premier bowl game outside of the CFB playoffs.

Not one guy on your list (damn harbaugh) has ever shown any ability to do anything close to that. Your list is entirely speculation and adds zero value except to highlight the exceptional quality and ability of our current head coach.

K1, is in the books. It was a time of ups and downs.
K2, begins with a talented roster and the best overall staff yet.

(no ND coach has coached year 6 without winning a single NC; however Holtz did go a longer period without officially winning a NC. 1993 should have been a NC team. Unless Kelly wins a NC in K2, he will have the dubious distinction of having done that twice.)

Outside of Saban, Meyer, Stoops no one on that list has won or even gotten their team to a National Championship Game. Let alone won one. D'Antonio got to the playoffs and what happened 0-38.

Shaw has won the Pac 12 and a couple of Rose Bowls against a 5 loss Wisconsin team and a very overrated Iowa team

But is any Bowl outside the Playoff 4 a Big Bowl anymore? Even at 12-1 this was a disappointment of a year for OSU. No matter how Meyer spins it.

With a first year starting QB back in the day that would be a very successful year for ND or any team. Throw in the injuries and it was almost a miracle this team went as far as it did.

Also, in order to reach this game you disparage, a team would have to be in the top 5 or 6 to qualify. That isn't really such a bad year. Again, first year QB, injuries, etc.

Kelly and Swarbrick would both be fired by now if this was the NFL where accountability matters. However in the stupid ND administration everyone gets rewarded for stinking it up.

Count me down as a former ND fan who will no longer pay any of my hard earned on games.

the previous four coaching searches should tell you how much demand and interest there was in the job by highly successful coaches. little if any.
