Not news that Title IX lawsuits against the University are flying around St. Joe County. I saw it discussed on a prior thread and on USA Today recently.

The REALLY interesting thing is the silence on this from ESPN. I see 2 articles on ESPN about Finebaum calling out Kelly (Kelly must have stolen Paul's prom date way back when), and several other ND articles since Saturday. There is no way in this world they would sit on this one.

I think ESPN is preparing a full-blown assault on Notre Dame. I don't know when it's going to drop, but it will. If you recall, a year or so ago, ESPN actually sued ND over a freedom of information issue. One of their reporters has been DIGGING deep for anything to bury us on. I bet anything this reporter got wind of what happened from someone involved, and tried to turn it into a story. Now, those dead ends might open up again.

There is no doubt about it. This is going to be a big story. It may turn into the biggest scandal in program history. Look at what happened at Baylor. There is zero tolerance for this in the NCAA. Once again, the vultures will circle, and they will have their pound of flesh. It will probably turn out to be Kelly. I hope Swarbrick hangs in there, because he is a very, very smart man. He knows more about college athletics than maybe anyone in the country. Not every coaching hire is going to work out, but you need a big picture guy at the top.

If Swarbrick had any clue about college football he would have never extended Kelly's contract with (allegedly) a significant raise - he would have admitted his hiring mistake and found a real coach

As Tommy_23 stated - Happy Jack needs to go - he can take Fr Jenkins with him!

HOWEVER - considering that Fr Jenkins has an apparent man-crush on Swarbrick and Happy Jack appears to have a similar man-crush on Kelly - all 3 might very well survive all anticipated scrutiny.

Not suggesting that ND has done anything like Baylor, but in the event that what happened at Baylor did happen, or would ever happen, at ND, then I'm not blaming the media for uncovering it.

damn, any details on scope of the potential lawsuit?

It's not Swarbrick's job to win football games. He runs the entire athletic department, and is extremely visible at many events, not just football. I think he has done a great job at ND in all sports. To suggest that the AD and President be fired because you don't like BK is... misguided. I'll leave it at that.

As for the free pass on the media mentioned above, I think they lost the benefit of the doubt on that a long time ago. The media didn't "uncover" this. It was reported after a public lawsuit filing. How can you explain ESPN not even publishing a brief article on that fact, when many other outlets have? That was the original point of my post. I can't. Not after all the BS they have and continue to publish. They are clearly holding back for a reason.

That reason could be this is a minor issue, not news worthy. However, that doesn't sit right since the technical reason for the Randolph lawsuit was completely withheld from ESPNs recent article (that he had to sue for insurance claim purposes).

I will wager that the real reason is because ESPN is lining up resources for a full court press on this one against ND. Online, TV and radio will hammer this shortly after a big expose-style article is published. Hope I'm wrong, but they haven't earned the 4-letter nickname for playing fair!

Does that fact that the girl admittedly wanted nothing to do with pursuing the case originally have some impact on it?

Not sure if you're referring to me, but I didn't give the media a 'free pass'. For what it's worth, after the administration's awful response to the Declan Sullivan death, I've quit giving the administration the benefit of the doubt.

Is it possible that the media is doing a thorough analysis of the details of the story before going off half-cocked like they usually do?

Look in the mirror. You were the one stating a couple of days ago that you wanted a witch hunt to find the people who sold their tickets to UGA fans.

You want to attack fans who are annoyed with the crappy product being sold to them. But the guys who lead that product and get rich off of it are little angels in your mind.
