We lose the bowl game and the following ripple effects occur - we lose Procise, Fuller, Stanley, Russell and most likely Smith to the NFL. Now, can't blame any of them for going for their dream. And for some it was a lock win or lose that they'd be turning pro.

But, if we win maybe w/ the good mojo we can talk Kev., Procise and Fuller and maybe Smith into staying and playing for a NT next season ?

Last year when we won - the team and fan base was energized and so where the players - it created a great buzz and BK was able to talk some into not going to the NFL.

The loss also creates such bad energy amongst the ND fan base. We are all at each others throats all trying to figure out how ND can become an elite Football team again - a top 5 program. A program that is 12-1 or 13-0 heading into the playoffs.

Bowl game wins are huge for programs. The ripple effect of losing is not good.

Doubt the bowl loss had any influence on the players

Ripple effect implies cause and effect. No way to know if any of those guys' decisions would be different had we won. You are right on the fan stuff.

If recruits don't take notice I would be shocked .... they noticed the beat down Bama gave us as well.
Yes, the sky is falling and they're all going to go elsewhere (please note sarcasm). If that's the case, then I guess Michigan State is losing recruits, Florida, Iowa, Oregon, etc., etc., etc.

Recruits don't make a decision to change their commitment based upon how a team does in their bowl game.

in 2013 after the Bama game ND closed really well in recruiting so I guess they took notice?

And the Bama game had negligible effect on anything, recruiting-wise. Losing by two TDs in a New Years Six bowl to a team that many think is the most talented team in the country is not exactly going to set our program back.

I agree; the only exception could be Fuller is he was undecided. I can fathom how seeing the Smith injury could influence decisions. We also do not know what report each of these players received from the NFL about their possible draft positions.

ND would have been #1 in the country by week 9 the last two years in a row if two things didn't

Ref f - c ing us @FSU

Converted 2 pt play @Clemson Armada

Fans are prone to negative melodrama

I Agee that these kids were leaving because of all the reasons that make sense.

ND is still loaded going into 2016 and with every reason to be optimistic.

I bet some are leaving because there is zero upside with this staff. Golson made that clear....

Yes and he faired so well at his next stop. The two of you deserve each other. Man you are either a moron or Michigan fan. Redundancy at its worst.

Most here were writing that a win would be a huge plus for recruiting this year, so seems fair to question if the loss will hurt us. I think the answer is no, but also think we benefit from a really poor bowl season with so many one sided games, with ours being among the best and more competitive. The overall upward trajectory of the program is much more important to recruits, as is coaching stability. The questions hanging over BVG could be a distraction, but suspect the stability of the position coaches is more important in this instance.

Yeah because Golson made such a great move in heading to FSU to be beaten out by a career backup. Then he proceeded to quit on his team.
You are clueless.

I'm suggesting a factor in the move not a result. Again, you aren't the brightest bulb...

I think Smith's injury would be the bigger influence. Take the money when you can get it...

You really like to make stupid assumptions. Tell me more about how "soft" Schmidt and John Huarte are....
Grumpy old men should have more to do than jock ##iffing and name dropping.
Kelly is going to get a big raise with an extension.

IMO Procise, and Fuller were going to return and decided for different reasons( aside from the $). CJ saw that had a very successful season. He has world class speed and is going to kill it in the combines. He also saw the emergence of a true RB in Adams and knew that carries would be split in some ways. But most importantly , he is a senior . His best friend and roommate was Chris Brown. This senior class was the best in quite some time. He wanted to go out with them and had a good enough season for the NFL to give him a good look.
Fuller leaving is a major major loss. I think he left the minute Jaylon blew out the knee. He could have went down as ND's all time TD record at WR, had a great QB situation coming back , and would have been a leader. His stock barring injury would have went up. But the risk of getting injured is tough to ignore when you seen your teammate go down and lose millions . Cannot fault the guy at all. BK needs to get the Robertson kid now !!!!
