not why I originally started to root for nd. I thought we were above some of this bullshit but apparently not. not on my team and I don’t wish the kid ill will but never want to see him in blue and gold. If freeman wants to continue to beg, genuflect and kow tow to a kid who jerked him around for a year i‘ve lost all respect for him. In a word pathetic
Michael Floyd literally put peoples lives in jeopardy when he got a DUI while he was here. Could have killed someone. He didnt even miss a game. Plenty of former ND players have done much worse than PB.... isnt ND a catholic university? Forgiveness anyone?
Didnt Tommy Rees punch a cop and get arrested? He ended up playing again and now is OC. Didnt Golson cheat on school and get to come back? Kei Russell was getting someone to do his schoolwork and was able to come back

And where/when did I ever say I condoned the behavior of said mentioned former players? apparently you don’t read very well either as I clearly stated I wish Bowen no ill will —-but I definitely don’t want him on my team. has not demonstrated the high character we normally seek in our players. why freeman watches a kid mock the university with a hat show and a tour of America and then continue to beg and plead for his services is beyond me. The whole charade has been sad and pathetic and freeman continued to enable the show. preserve some dignity and tell the kid best of luck elsewhere. But feel free golson take him on your team

Do you want them all off the team? Do you think we should have kicked all those players off the team I mentioned. And the many others who had transgressions while at school?
We would really suck at football if we only took perfect recruits
If that individual had been more talented than your last 100 new hires, yeah you still take him and take the risk … maybe it works out maybe it doesn’t
you get him on campus and the expectations are clear… he’ll either grow and play or continue bad character and transfer

ND will be a demanding place for a football players … if someone isn’t sure then they shouldn’t enroll and hope it works out.

ND should stop recruiting 5 star kids. I realize Bowen was more a guy that moved up over time so no fault to the coaches but unless you’re a clear ND kid, don’t waste time on 5 star kids. It is definitely a waste of effort in this environment. Stick to high 4 star kids and the rare CJ Carr types. You simply must get 5 star QBs. If you can’t do that then join the Ivy.
I would not beg. I'm sure Freeman isn't. But there is nothing wrong with trying to convince a kid that he is temporarily insane. To remind him about why he originally chose ND. To be a voice of reason when greed clouds his judgement. If that's what Freeman is doing than he is fine in my book.

Except teams with all the 5 stars tend to compete for a title every year … every now and then when all the stars align for a team there’s an outlier
I disagree. Had we gotten in on another safety and another DE early, say a mid to high 4 star, we’d have two more guys. If Minchey wasn’t a saint, we’d have no QB. We went 0-3 and only replaced 1 of them and it was a miracle pulling Minchey (who by the way is every bit as good as Dante). Can’t do that every year. We need 4 star DE’s yearly.
In other words, I’d love to have a 4 star Vyper.
Good call. The Vyper thing sucks but otherwise I love this class. A Caleb Williams type could win a title or come damn close if he played for ND in 2-3 years.

Yeah we will. I'll stack a tough cowboy kid up against some of these other guys any day. Different breed. My pops first state title team was full of them. Rodeo riders, camping in the winter while hunting type guys. Said it was "Toughest bunch of kids I coached in decades. "
Lot of tough guys from that state that never did anything. We'll see how he does against elite talent
