Autry Denson

After losing Alford to Ohio State I really thought the running back position was going to struggle. I just wanted to mention that AUTRY DENSON has done a heck of a job getting his guys ready to play. I just wanted to give DENSON some credit since position coaches usually don't get a lot of credit during the season.

No DOUBT! I know Alford took a lot of heat for his coaching here but I never realized just how right those critics were. Remember when our backs always went down when a defender woukd hit them below the knees? Armando Allen was the worse at that. He always seemed to get tripped up in one on one situations. Our backs are now winning 9 out of 10 one on one situations. Denson's group is having a spectacular year.

Denson has no doubht been an upgrade from a coaching standpoint. Given time I think he will take off as a recruiter as well. Kelly hit a home run with all the coaching hires. He's done a great job improving and re making his staff since coming to ND

Great post and recognition of a very good coach. Not to many teams are running their fourth RB option to start the season and step in run for 147 yds. Great job!!!

Kelly hit a homerun with Denson coming on board. Once he establishes himself recruiting he will be a beast on the trail for ND. Denson could be at ND for a while too. The only way I see him leaving is if he was approached by the NFL to be a RB coach. Even if that was an option I think his passion and love is at ND.

By the way, I think Denson is a great coach because he did not rely on just his physical tools to become ND's all time leading rusher. He had better patience and vision than any Irish running back I've ever seen. It was like he was squeezing out every available yard on every play. He couldn't outrun any secondaries, so he wasn't a home run hitter, but man he was fun to watch. All of the running backs this year have displayed good vision/patience.
